Are you paying attention at all? :eh:

They will read the engine block stamp at your next smog check.

They know that the second-gen Integra RS/LS/GS came with a B18A.
They know that the B18A did not have a VTEC cylinder head.
They know that a B18C1 was never offered for sale in 1991 Integra.

They will but these two facts together, fail you and send you to the CARB smog ref.

It is that simple.

You know people make fun of me for being a huge tuner enthusiast in the state of Alabama, due to the redneck stereotype, but at least I can do whatever the hell I want to my car as long as i have a cat or muffler on my car to satisfy noise ordinances! this crap would give me a headache, i would just build a car and put a fake tag on it and make sure i never got pulled over, lol!

you do have to be somewhat specially trained to be a state ref. in other words, you gotta know your stuff. btw, spinney54 lives in cali. its cali, of course the ref here knows all about swaps. hes probably had people try to play him big time.
basically, dont assume the ref is a retard

Anyone who doesn't think the smog station techs don't know you'll be swapped, go ahead and try to get them to smog your car. They'll tell you to leave so fast you won't know what happened. Instead of speculating out of your ass, take the advice of people who have been there.

No, MathGSR, I'm pretty sure I'd say it to his buck-toothed face.
and thanks Dave. I think I got it. I'm actually putting in a stock jdm b18c1 gsr engine and the only thing I dont' know is if its California Certified. I mean its not a direct replacement its an upgraded engine but its still a B-series engine from the same year. I still have a stock intake that's going in, stock intake and exhaust manifolds, same cat, probably same O2 sensors, so by the look it looks just stock 4dr GSR. In fact I did trade my rims for the 94-97 GSR rims so my car's gonna look full GSR. Man my car is old. But to be safe I should check in with the CA State Ref.

those things will only make it "look" like a regular GSR to "regular" people. those kinda things dont mean shit when checking to see what engine you have.

this sounds kinda wierd. My best friend lives in Sacremento and has a daily driven 89 crx with a b16a1, custom turbo kit, crower turbo cams, cam gears, fpr, uberdata tuned, no cat, 2.5" turbo back exhaust. He has no problems w/ police, and gives the smog ref $100 to pass it everytime. No troubles.
