food v.presentation
there's nothing you hate more than being about ready to close and having 4 people walk in and sit down and start ordering drinks and meals and making you stay an hour later than you were supposed to.
it happens way to much, it's simply common sense.
The employees just feel like time of close means the time they leave. I think thats wrong. When I worked food service, we were scheduled like 1.5 hours after close, so I didn't mind at all.

still pissed
the fact of the matter is you will always have people walk in right at close no matter what time you close
keith's example is a little different imo though because there the employees are still gonna be there after food service stops because the place is still open.
the logic is flawed simply because then what if someone walks in at 9:28

But I'm arguing that peoples mindsets can change when I really know they can't. I'm just saying "ideally" and unfortunately I am that asshole that comes in 2 minutes before close

I know thats my point, wouldn't it be easier to close at 9:30 then when someone walks in at 9:28 no one is furious? (assuming it takes half an hour to feed someone).

i've never seen someone able to just leave when you close. its just the principle that now you have to add at least 30 minutes to an hour on to the time you were supposed to work till
like if i close my kitchen at 10 i usually get out by 11 or 1130. if someone walks in at 9:50 odds are i'm not getting out of there till 12 or 1230.
it just comes down to common sense and being polite. you wouldnt walk in to a business and demand a service at 10 to close that takes a hour so why would you walk into a restaraunt at 10 to close and want to sit down to a nice meal and enjoy yourself for 45 minutes holding up all employees in the place
 at leaving when the door is locked
