food v.presentation
say you work at a detail shop and someone rolls up with a absolutely trashed vehicle at 10 to close and wants the job done tonight and at the normal price with no extra incentive... you're gonna tell them no way it can be done tonight
it's the same with a restaraunt. you are open to 10 but that doesnt mean at 9:50 you are gonna accept a 10-top.
it's a common sense type thing, open for business till 10 doesnt mean you take orders till ten. lots of places are open till a set time but stop taking appointments 30-50 minutes prior to closing. in a restaraunt that varies day to day based on who's still currently dining
that's not the issue

No but your example used a service that has a variable time limit. If you close at 10 and its a 1 hour job and someone shows up at 9 do it. Different with restaurants, times posted should reflect time of service --- you can't estimate the time what if its a fast food restaurant or like a prime rib place? You can only go off of whats posted on the door. With cars the person tells you what can be done when you show up. How difficult is it for a restaurant to calculate the time they want to close and the time they will accept the last customer?
i.e. taco bell closes at 11, I can make orders until 11. Why do non-fast food restaurants get to have different time schedules? How do you define when a restaurant can do that? Post what you can serve until, and then there will be no second guessing.

you walk in to a restaraunt and order a salad you know it's going to be much quicker than ordering a well done steak. you know if you walk in and sit down at 10 to close you will be there after close.
it doesnt matter though, majority of the time you are going to walk into a restaurant and it's going to be a 30 minute meal minimum ... if you walk in at 9:50 and they close at ten you KNOW you will be keeping them later and if you dont realize it you are a dense asshole plain and simple.
Actually now that I think bout it, its probably the bosses that want the restaurant to service until that time and the employees want to be gone by that time.

Don't f with the employees they'll pee in your food like tark pees on women.

Then those "dense assholes" who come in aren't being "dense assholes"
