well, that theory is based on using stock pistons. if you lower the compression of the GSR motor you could run (in theory) however much boost you want. same with the LS. the former owner of a local shop in cockeysville (mike dowell) was pushing 7xx wheel on his built GSR @ 30psi, and a friend of mine that worked with me at acura had a built h22 pushing 740 but i dunno how much boost.

GS-R, just find someone who can tune well, and do proper management. If you install and AFC hack or E-Manage or some garbage like that I shall stab you.

honestly....

i'd buy a b20 or b18b longblock for cheap and build it for boost. your LS tranny is better than a GSR tranny for turbo anyway. just get a nice clutch and keep your stock flywheel. and make sure you get a good fuel setup.

theres tons of parts and knowledge about turboing and tuning b series motors, and LS/b20s are less expensive than GSRs.

I much rather have a GS-R tranny than an LS tranny if given the choice. You'll be in boost longer on an LS transmission because of the longer gearing, but a GS-R transmission will always be faster with the shorter gearing.

Misconception FTL

I have an automatic tranny, but I just bought a GSR tranny for a swap. So I am getting ready to do that. I also have a stage 2 clutch and fly.

And...a lightened flywheel is still a good idea. A heavier flywheel is still parasitic loss that the engine has to deal with and has to fight the intertia of the flywheels weight. The turbo is going to only spool so fast regardless but anything helps.

i guess it depends on how much boost you're actually running. on relatively low boost, a gsr tranny would be better. but i'd think on high boost, you'd blow through the gears too quickly. i dunno, i dont have any tangible proof on that one.

Shorter gears always equals better acceleration.
