They've busted several "homeless beggars" here that weren't homeless, they were just out for the money people give away feeling sorry for street people. A couple of them were making upwards of $300 a day. The other ones that get me are the ones with the sign "Homeless will work for food." I caught one coming out of his apartment (approximate rent 800-1000 per month) asked if he wanted work because I had some holes that needed to be dug for posts. Surprise! Surprise! he didn't want to do the work it was too hard. He was brazen enough to ask me just for the money. I was only willing to pay him the same amount I paid my son for digging postholes ($15 each) he could dig three an hour sometimes, sometimes less (rocky soil) and sometimes more (sandy soil).

that reminds me....

an old coworker of mine once told me a childhood friend of his was kidnapped and killed by a homeless person working for food. The kids father "hired" the bum to help move, and the guy ran off with the kid. Sad.

I have three that consistently hang out in front of my work. one, I threatened and he went away, and I haven't seen him since. the other guy is cool, because he raps. ( I think he's a bit looney) The third one is this DIRTY DIRTY ass white woman. she's got dirt all caked up on her face, missin teeth, got a nasty grill, wears this stinky red windbreaker thing. she came in and asked for a job once. We all said we're not hiring pretty much at the same time. Seemed like a sitcom for that brief moment.

they can all just get the hell off the streets and go to a shelter and get themselves straightened out. fvck them. I gots me a job, that means anyone can do it.

what i hate the most is the ppl that are at stoplights with their buckets. ive only seen two types of ppl like that....
1. firefighters- the only peeps i donate to.
2. blacks- ok, im not trying to start a race war or whatever, but its the way it is here in orlando.
i work close to downtown, i see them all, whites too mind you. buuuttt, the ones that are at the stoplights are usual for churches, and why the hell would i donate to their church???

You just totally contradicted yourself. How do you expect the problem to be solved if you refuse to give the people a job and laugh about it?

I work in DC and you see them EVERYWHERE!! I used to feel bad for them all the time and give them money until this one lady called me a "Worthless B***H" because I wouldn't give her any money! I just said "I would rather be a worthless B***H with a job and money then be one on the street like you!!" Ever since then I will never give money to the ones that beg ever again! There is this organization called "S.O.M.E. (So Others May Eat) in DC (and probably in other states) and our work has got involved with it and what we do is every 3-4 months our work goes and buys a whole bunch of supplies and we make about 1000 Turkey and Ham sandwiches for the homeless. It is a good feeling that you are doing something, but you also don't have to put up with their begging! There was this one time though that I would see this Bum every morning and he was really nice and would say "hi" to everyone and he had this sleeping bag that he stored in one of those newspaper things on the streets. Well one morning on my way to work I saw him and he didn't have his sleeping bag anymore, so I asked him where it was and he said it was stolen (mind you it was January). So the next morning I brought him one that I had at home that we never used. He was so grateful about it!! And I felt really good about doing it! And to this day he still has it!

Ok I will give a little coin here and there depending on how I feel at the time, but the problem sometimes with telling them to get a job is that without a permanent address they won't hire a person.

I was on the streets for a while a bunch of years back but I never begged for money. I looked for a job but was living out of a shelter and no one would hire me because I used that as my address.

I am not defending them but I also judge them on a case by case basis rather than making the blanket statement that they are lazy. I met afew people on the street that held full degrees bur they also drove themselves there because pf various circumstances.

Case by case I decide who I give change to but not all the time do I give and never am I rude about it....kharma plays back at you for these things and I like to even out my chances as best I can.

it also depends on the bum's condition...if he's fully capable of working then **** him go find your own money, but if its a bum on a wheel chair i'd give him some of my spare change....

I hate them. I feel sorry for them; just because they look so dirty and pathetic.
But screw them; I really hate people who beg for money. Don't ask me for anything- it is money I have earned.
Anyone can go stick a can in your face and ask for change.

I just wish they would dissapear. If you aren't going to impact the community in a positive way; just go live your last days underneath a causeway and leave everyone alone.
I'm down in Miami as well, and there's way to many ****in bums here. but thats why i live on Brickell Avenue, so there won't be any ****in bums near my apartment!

and its true all they ****in do is buy liquor with the $$$ you nieve people give them.

the only $$$ I'd ever give them would be a counterfiet $50 or $100, then when they go to the liquor store to spend it, they'll get their ass thrown in jail and charged with a federal offense.
hahahahaha

First time in the on topic forum for me. I gave 20 bones to a young homeless chick once. I was riding the "buyers high" after purchasing a sony dsc-f717 and two 128meg mem sticks. She was kinda-sorta hot and I got a hug and a kiss to boot. I feel sorry for the homeless, then I realize most of them could make it work if they wanted to and get pissed off.
