beggers
Sure I feel bad for them, especially the ones that stand out in the rain holding up carboard signs next to an on ramp or something. But I also put them in the same category as people who will go out and picket something or demand my signature in front of stores. They are interrupting my day and infringing on my good mood. I pay my taxes that go to services that help these people and I still give to charities. I do my part to help and I wish they'd stop hanging out by the metro escalators where you have no choice but to either talk to them or hide behind the friends that actually do smoke.
I only give $$ to two type of beggers, the old and the cripple. The young or middle age people begging really make me sick and I usually just ignore them. But the old one (50+), I feel sorry for and tend to me more generous. Also the crippled, those are really sad to see.

and its kinda hard to get a job when you dont have much money to buy new clothes/or a place to take a shower
I never give my money to beggars, because they do not deserve my money. The only thing they do deserve are my words; to stop begging, and get a job, instead of begging. I also tell him that they got themselves into the situation, so they are the ones that should get themselves out.
Giving money to a bump just encourages them to live their current lifestyle; ask for money, get some, and then get something to eat with that money. Now, if one did not give money at all, the bum (provided that he/she is wise enough) will see that people will not spare him any money, so it is either he dies or he getting his life back.

Sometimes I feel sorry for them but homeless people are homeless for a reason and most times they put themselves in that position. Same with people on welfare. Instead of sitting around collecting a free check get out and work. There are jobs available.
