Have you ever been in a suburban, tahoe, or navigator? They are quite comfortable. They just floatalong the road. the suspension absorbs just about any bump in the road.

i like SUV's. i just dont like a lot of the people driving them today on the road. i almost decided to get a 4Runner, but didnt simply due to the price. Other than that, i liked everything about it. it does have more room than a standard sedan like an accord. (not just for people for hauling personal stuff like on road trips and stuff). gas isnt that bad on the 4Runner atleast. plus it looks pretty cool in my opinion. true if i got one i wouldnt go offroading on it ever. but oh well. id rather get an SUV than a minivan. a minivan screams out "family ride" and middle age parent. SUV's look sportier. now a sports wagon is a tempting option to me. i like the new 3series wagon...but then i dunno, i like the 3series sedan better

jesus...those lincoln navigators...they are HUGE! they look sooo damn top-heavy!

i agree, SUVs need to be limited in production. So many people have them around here that going down the highway its suv, suv, minivan, truck, tractor trailor, suv, suv, my teg, suv, suv, truck, suv...

my friend's dad has a tahoe and they tow their ATVs and waverunners around in it. my dad has an 86 Jeep Grand Wagoneer...used for snow and to waste money on repairs.

I gotta admit, I never lived in a place where it has snow storm, I just visit there. My aunt have been living in Chicago for 27 years and she never has a SUV and she still survive, that's why my view of SUV is how it is. I'm assuming that if there's several inches of snow on the road, even SUV will be dangerous because it's so slippery but no first hand experience for me. I guess you know more than me about the need of SUV in that area so I'll take your words for it. I just hate all those SUV in California. They drive like they're the only one on the road and I'm sure 99% of those SUV never seen a spec of dirt. Also, most i've seen have only 1 person in it.

I understand what your saying. Most of the damn suv's around me will never be used off-road, but in the winter most beople switch to snow tire, or on my truck, I have 33x9.5" bfg MT's. Theyre not tires mainly used for offroad, theyre too narrow, the purpose of them is to dig down through snow. Driving a truck or SUV in 4wd is alot different than driving it in 2wd. thats one thing most people don't realize. Poeple who have 4wd suv's and trucks think that since they have 4wd they are invincible in the snow. Its now that you have better traction, it's that you have power to all 4 wheels when 2 of them won't get traction. Take my parents explorer for instance. He had a really bad blizzard last year, so he's driving around in the thing in 4wd low. which is ok. But most people don't know, that you should never drive faster than 25 in 4low. The main problem is nnot that therer ARE SUV's on the road, It's that many people dont know how to drive them properly. I agree with you you see the damn soccer mom's driving 80 mph weaving all over the lane on the highway, because they can't see whats around them. Driving a suv or truck in 4wd, in dangerous situations is not something I recommend to people, unless its an emergency, or they have experience. I've seen too mand accidents in the winter because of some stupid woman that thinks their blazer is invincible because it was 4 wheel drive. they don't realize that they don't have snow tires on it, and they drive like they normally would, slam on the brakes, and slide into a telephone pole.
Actually, I have an aunt that lives in chicago also, there is alot of snow there. but, the city of chicago has the trucks and people to plow the roads and get it done. It doesn't always work that way in Jersey and Pennsylvania, the 2 states I've lived in in the last 4 years. When there is a big storm here, they are NEVER prepared for it.

I understand what you're talking about. My dad has a 4WD Tundra and I read the manual for the 4WD function and 4HI max @ 65 while 4LO is like 25 like you said. These function were meant for extreme condition which mean you ahve to drive slow, but many people probably would never pull out the manual and read it. It's sad but true. In your case, SUV and trucks are very understandable, I guess I just see no point for them in states like Cali that never see snow unless we're in the mountain. There really should be a special lisence to operate these vehicles.

I agree with you 100% I also believe there should be an additonal driving test to drive a large 4wd vehicle. Much like you have to take a test to drive a schoolbus or a commercial truck. Hell some of those damn thigs are bigger than some school buses (short buses), and alot of commercial trucks, like mitsu fuso, and trucks like that. 95% of the people who drive them don't know how to drive them.

SUV and snow? wow, unless you're going off roading in the snow, I doubt the city will let the road be filled w/ several inches of snow. Even so, nothing a AWD or a FWD can't fix.
you must be enjoying your sunny weather where ever you're at. NYC had the biggest snow in 1996. Also SUV are very comfortable my boy's 02 Yukon Denali XL, i fall a sleep in that truck. You need to study these suv before you tried to make these assumption. Mini-van are but most owners rather get a SUV.

If it wasnt for SUV sales, GM and Ford would NOT exsist today.

I thought Ford existed on the sales of their truck dept specifically the F series? Correct me if I'm wrong.
