Do We Really Need All These SUV's?
i read in a magazine a long time ago that they said they'll be be really hard on emission laws in a few years. hopefully that will mean the end of SUVs. I don't mind suvs with 150hps crawling around the freeway. but those ones with V8s are roadraging all over the place.

I like my MDX, it comes in handy especially with our 8 month old boy. Ever try to put a baby in a car seat with a lowered car??? OUCH!

I understand if you take 6 or 7 people which a car cannot do all the time.
But you can't see crap around them, especially when you turn left and they are in the turn lane on the opposite side too. I hate how some people drive them like they are invincible, don't even bother to check their blind spots...you dunno how many time I was almost hit.
i like SUVs...very luxurious. but besides that, i hate the slow soccer moms who drive them.
i had a friend with a range rover discovery...loved that thing. another friend of mine has a Lexus LX470...pimp as hell

Hey my sister and brother in law just bought a 2002 Chevy Tahoe on Sunday. It's really nice car. Anyway, I totally agree, too many SUV type cars are being sold. And Toyota needs to stop making more. It's ridiculous. I'm also tired of people buying these things because they want, 'more room, more power, etc.' That's a lame excuse. If you want that, get a damn van. I'd get an SUV BECAUSE I'll be ACTUALLY going off-roading in the thing. I'm not going to baby the hell out of it. My SUV will get dirty and go into 3 feet of mud and snow. That's what you use an SUV for. I guess I'm just sick of people buying SUVs for the WRONG reasons. That and the auto makers are making too many useless SUVs. But hey, they're making money. But I predict that some of these car makers will be loosing money in the future because of this stupid economy. No onoe is buying cars barely. that's why you see all these commercials with like 0% APR or some other REALLY low APR rate. But yeah, this is all just IMO.
I don't see the point of a big SUV at all. Most people I see driving them are AF type families (husband wife one kid and a dog) and don't really need this type of machine, let alone a big V8 one that they can barely see over the hood of.
The other problem is they build these monsters that get horible gas mileage and weigh 3,000 lbs and up but they put tiny brakes on them, so basicaly the manufacturer has made them unsafe from the factory.
I dunno I just don't understand why they don't get more strict on manufacturers about things like brake size to weight ratios, as well as requiring any person who buys one to undergo a course in how to handle the machine they are buying.

I have an SUV, a 77 Toyota landcruiser. Used mainly for off-roading, and for taking off the top and doors and cruising in the summer. Its sweet. But very true, I have seen so many accidents involving large SUVs changing lanes into other cars. A guy in a expedition almost hit me twice a couple months ago, Once going around a traffic circle, and then once again coming out of a toll booth getting onto the GSP. The second time I gave him the finger. He them proceeded to chase me up the highway doing about 120 trying to run me off the road, I then pulled off at an exit, In front of a State police Barracks, this 65 year old man goes to get outta his car telling me He's going to kick my ass. Thats when I opened the door, and told him to pull into the parking lot, or "STFU you old man, before I beat the F*** outta you, then take away your medicare card. He got back in his car and took off. Little did he know, That while he was trying to run me off the road, I called in his plate number to the staties, and told them what was happening, as it was going down, and they were waiting for him at his house. I went to court, and his liscense was suspended for a year, and like $2000 in fines.
