Default Short Throw Shifter

I'm wanting to put a short throw shifter in my Teg, but I'm wanting some advice on which brand to buy. I'm guessing that the EBAY no-name discount special is probably not the way to go on this. I'm considering B&M, Neuspeed, DC Sports, Blox, Skunk 2, Buddy Club just to name a few. Feel free to add a brand if I left off a good company for H/A shifters. I'm wanting to get a good quality shifter, but not wanting to pay an arm and a leg. I'm leaning towards the B&M. I'm looking for info from anyone who's installed any of these shifters on their car. Any major cons of the install? The pros of the install seem to be what I'm looking for in the first place. Thanks for the help and the suggestions guys!

Go for the ebay ones, there is no difference of shifter kits from the cheapie ebay ones. If you really are concerned then change out the lower bearingto high grade swiss ones.

I'm sorry, I've got to throw the flag on this play.
I for one cannot believe that a fly-by-night eBay company, using cheap castings and poor quality control will be worth the couple bucks you save.

Even if you have to disassemble the shifter once after installation, that's time wasted that could be spend either driving or earning money.

Do it once, do it right.
Buy a shifter that can withstand some abuse, I say.

Back in the day, B&M short shifters for known to rattle inside the OEM lower bearing. I would recommend the Skunk2 short shifter instead.

And as a hedge against rattling, I'd install a new OEM lower bearing when you do the install.

I wouldnt want to be stranded somewhere 'cause my $20 shifter broke in half. Dont have any experience with the shifters, all I know is that the B&M is a bit tight, gets to be pain to shift, but I heard great things about Skunk2.

Also, did you consider the GSR dual-bend?

Thanks for the help guys! It sounds like the consensus is saying that Skunk2 is the way to go. Will the stock shift knob fit the Skunk2 shifter though? I'm wanting to keep it on there if possbile. Also, I've read on the internet that the shift boot will be a little too short with the Skunk2 shifter. I read that the Skunk2 causes the shift boot to be too short to cover the shift lever itself in certain gear positions. Any thoughts or comments on this? I like how the OEM part shifts now, I'm just wanting to make the shifts feel a little more positive. Is changing it out with a new, quality, aftermarket shifter the best option or can I keep the OEM part and just put new quality bushings in it to improve the feel?

ebay ones are ok bro. what you need to buy with it are the energy suspension shifter and linkage bushings. then your all set.

enjoy the neck pain the next day you do the shifter install. hehe:chuckles:

everything will fit fine,, the shift boot isnt too small, i just wrapped electric tape around the shifter to make that section fatter and pulled the boot over it and the boot never comes down.. you can keep your oem shifter and put new bushings and should work just fine.. its really up to u, i did it on both of my cars but that is just me.

i had a B&M straight short shifter before they made bends in it in my first integra, it was alright. I replaced it with a STR shifter with cartridge bearings. it rattled in 5th gear. not because it hit the exhaust (and it did), but vibration resonance. what a pain.

i guess the biggest difference to me was looking for the short shifters that DIDNT have the cartridge bearings in the bottom. that should help you in the vibration departiment.
