Sorry to be asking so many questions guys, but should I get OEM Honda bushings or Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings if I end up deciding to keep the stock shifter in the car? It sounds like I could probably just change out the shifter bushings for some new ones and it'll clean up the "notchiness" while shifting gears in the car.

the energy suspension poly shifter kit is really great for the price. you will get smoother and more stout shifts with it.

If you're looking just for a better shift feel, try just replacing the bushings with poly first. It does wonders for the stock shifter.

dont keep the stock shifter, its too tall. may i suggest a cheap ebay short throw shifter and an energy suspension shifter kit.
they work perfect if you ask me. theyre not that expensive and the short throw really works.
dont buy the expensive skunk 2 which works the same as the ebay ones.

i have to disagree...i will say 99% of the ebay shifters are weak molds of a stock shifter with an inch or two cut off the top that is not designed like a skunk2, b&m, buddy club, etc...if you compare the ebay shifter to stock you'll notice the distance between the bushing/bearing and the knot/ball is is the same. the skunk2 is not only shorter (overall length wise) and it's distance between the bearing/bushing and knot/ball is shorter than stock which actually reduces the throw.

you can buy ebay short shifters, as long as they're name brands. the no name overseas crap i wouldnt recommend. people say they work the same, but they dont.

I had an ebay short shifter in my civic for about 2 years before it was stolen, never had any problems. If you shift hard enough to break the shifter then you're shifting too hard. It doesn't take much effort to put the transmission in gear. h:
