Default stupid stock headunits...

I can usually stand the fact that my head unit takes a very long time to load the track of a burned CD, but today I burned a CD and it wouldn't read it. So I got mad.

I decided to swap head units with my mom's 01 sedan. They seemed pretty compatible and her's read the CD perfectly. Unfortunately, her head unit doesn't work with my steering wheel buttons, so I swapped back.

If anybody was wondering or was gonna try this out (DX/LX to EX head unit conversion), IT DOESN'T WORK. Everything plugs in and plays fine, but you won't get the steering wheel buttons.

To make matters worse, after putting everything back together, I discovered my clock's LED is out. *sigh* -- i guess it's time for some blue LED conversions...

If it's the clock on the console isn't that a VFD and not LED backlit?

Hehe, as of now, yes, I am bumping that to the top of the list.

But they're replacable by LEDs I believe. (Some of the acura guys have done so i believe.)

mine went out also i think conversion to Led will be easy... only thing u got to do is find is a small LED and the right voltage and just solider it to the plate that the Blub is on i would think you will have to break the blub.

I got my stock headunit working with burned CDs now!

The trick is...

...to steal my dad's stock headunit from his other 6th gen EX V6 Accord! hahaha. It's so sad that now I can take out a head unit cleanly in barely a couple minutes.

Now to wait until my bro comes home to take his 6-cd indash changer...hope he doesnt notice either! j/k.

- and the LED idea sounds great. I think I'll give it a go very soon.

The only way I know of changing the color of a VFD is with plastic filters. If the clock is LCD backlit by LED's then it should be easy to change out. I've done that before on custom computer LCD modules. Then again I might be entirely wrong. Just basing my observation from my Accord.
