I called darton to see how much sleeves would be and they said they didnt make them anymore because they had too many problems.
You can still deck the block or buy guards, and there are other companies that still make sleeves. I'm not surprised that 15psi blew the motor, my observation is that a Honda block will handle about 40% increase in power before any problems arise in block integrity, or around 15psi. Tuning is also critical for CRVTEC or LS/VTEC swaps.

The build isn't all that substantial IMO, a CRV long block will run you $500-$600, with the head anywhere from $700-$1100, depending on choice. There is machine work involved, but you can build one hell of a motor using this platform.

If your boosting then i would go with an ls motor. but if going all motor the best would be b16b. imo.
umm, yeah. The b16b is the worst bang for buck out of any honda engine.

Oh ya and once AGAIN it is not that much heavier..... get over that fact because its not true.... they are heavier but not enough to really matter ....

And as everyone else is saying, the H22 is only like 20 lbs heavier or something like that. The only real advantage of a B-series swap is convenience, since it is a direct drop in.

It's just as fast (200hp) if not faster and in some cases, its cheaper $$.
heres my take on it .. the motor you choose depends on what you plan on doin with your car and how much money you want to spend on it.. yes gettina b16 or a b18 will b cheaper but you will b faster in a h22.. and yes it is a little more difficult doin a h22 swap but its not imposible .. the only hard part is the wiring which honda-tech has a great write up in the eg section on how to completly swap in a h22 and that you have to get hasport or another similar companies aftermarket mounts and useing different axles... so before you ask your self wha engine you want to buy ask yourself wha do i wanna do with my car then do the home work on every engine in your price range and go from there

I think evey1's getting a bit hung up on speed here, i know the h22a isnt that much heavier than a B series....however that weight differance will make a big differance in handling especially in a car that weighs only 1060kg.
Hatch civics and crx's are both known to have very light back ends and a engine even only that much heavier will really upset the front to rear weight balance. My freinds EK hatch with a H22a swap handles like shit....and doesnt grip off the line either even with the type s LSD box in it.
Basically, if you wana make it for drag go h22a, if you want a fast road car which handles go B- series boosted. Thats my just my opinion anyway.

Good debate tho! Ste

did your friend bother to set up his suspension to compensate for the differenet engine and weights?
