Why not a H22A
Hi. This is my first post but I have been contemplating whether what type of engine I should get for my 92 Honda Civic CX Hatchback. I have been researching what engines I can and cannot get but the majority of people get a B16 or B18 Type R engine. So here is where my dilemma occurs, why don't people get a H22A engine. It's just as fast (200hp) if not faster and in some cases, its cheaper $$.

IMO I would go with a B18C (JDM GSR or Type R) or the B18C1. If you do want to go with a B16, I would definitely go with the B16A (SIR motor) The B16a2 is pathetic and is known as the "torqueless wonder" There's nothing wrong with the H22A, other than it crams the engine bay like a bitch, and it's a very heavy motor (and big) However very fast.
EDIT: What are your plans for the motor? FI or NA? That will also help in what is best for you.
every B16 is known as the "torqueless wonder," if you want cheap go with a B18B1 LS motor, perfect for boosting.
a lot of people usually dont go with an H22 swap mostly for practicallity reasons, its not a direct swap. i dont know what exactly needs to be done for that swap. its also about 100 pounds heavier than the B motors.

B18B1 is a great platform for all motor or boost!
the H22 is alot heavier than a b-series like they said. it's not worth the money to do the swap cause everything you have to convert. also with the H22 you can't put forged pistons in it without sleeving the block. so IMO not worth it.

people give this swap such a bad name....in my opinion it is a sweet ass swap...I say go for it and fuck all the B series whores.
I would love to do a H22A swap. There is a little more work to the swap like Civic2Scooby said. You need custom motor mounts and custom axles are recomended. You also have to cut your shifter hole a little bigger. Here is a good write-up on the swap. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=650329
It is an engine with tons of torque.
To settle the weight issue arguement, look here where they weigh a H, B, and D.
