I'm not sure if i want to make my own cai or make the one with the stock air box I think no matter what i do i will coat everything with ceramic engine paint, i want the gray color that the aem comes in. I saw some at home deopt, said up to 1200 F, it won't get that hot in there.

First thing I did was throw an intake on my d16 engine. However, if you remove that resonator and stick with the stock airbox, you'll have the same results. What really restricts the air getting to the throttle body is the resonator box. I see people buying AEM intakes and stuff for 200 bucks and I dont understand it. It's a pipe. It's bent mandrel piping. Show me where one companies bent pipe is better than the next.

well i just put my stock intake tube down the hole where the resnoator used to be and stuck it into the middle of the cone, hoping that it will get some cold air. And my cheap ass short ram is a 3" pipe so it's going to be gone soon. I think i'll go to a junkyard and try to find the intake tube off of any sohc sol or civic, they are the same right? If not i'll just go to home depot and buy a 2.5" J pipe and use that as the bottom of my intake thing.

Well the engine bay is a bit different between the sol and the civic. I'd just use your stock piping without a resonator or get the 2.5" piping and make your own stretching from the throttle body to the hole in the fender and cap it off with the filter.

Well this site is what i want to do, it seems kinda easy to me, just the painting will take a while. This guy used one 180 degree U pipe of mandrel bent steel, so i think if i just use a J pipe and cut that to what i need it will work just as well, or i could do the whole thing.

EDIT: pape 2 is mine. w00t w00t!!

Only thing he left out was attaching it to the engine bay. Now you have the air intake just dangling out holding onto the throttle body with no support.

Should be holes where the stock air tube was bolted to it.

my air tube wasn't bolted in, unless when i pulled it out i ripped them out, i don't think so. I'll just look tommarrow and find a place to mount them. My little ghetto cold air thing works! in a way... I can tell a difference in the power, really in the low end, i just hope that i can find a 2.5" J pipe at home depot so i can take off my crappy cheap (not so cheap after looking on ebay) short ram and put back on the stock set up just painted in ceramic spray paint
