Official: Final Fantasy 13 thread
I easily get rid of the 4 "heads" then you have 432k hitpoints on the body. The guide says he will cast doom when he is almost dead. He cast it on me when he had 280k hitpoints left. I think next time I fight him I will veer away from staggering him since after that is when he will use destructo. Maybe then he won't use doom so early. I think I also called in Odin too soon. I called him in once I staggered him so I can beat the shit out of him...seems like the battle will take like 30+ minutes...joy of joy.
Actually I think he casts doom on if you aren't killing him fast enough. Maybe try to be more offensive and see how it goes? Destructo really shouldn't be a big problem if you're attacking him while he's powering it up.
I would try to save Odin until you have (if you have) Doom casted on you... I'm 95% sure that the counter goes away while your in summon mode. Also, if your part leader can be changed to a ravager, Odin and your leader should have to problem staggering the boss by yourselves before Odin is de-summoned. Remember that when you summon, your party is fully restored, that included debuffs. Summoning, in a way, is your final "oh shit" button.
Well, as you noticed it takes a lot more CP points to get skills from those other sets. Not only that but since these are secondary skill sets, there is going to be a lot of skills that are simply unavailable. For example, Lighning will never get as many abilities as a Sentinel as Snow would.
My advice is to not really bother, at least not until post-game. You're able to run around and do missions and side quests after you beat the game, so maybe you can start then. I'm getting close to beating it and I'm finding myself using points in all of the primary skill sets still.

Just watched a video of a guy killing chap 9 in 10 minutes (The estimated time to do so)...The Destrudo wasn't hurting him nearly as much as it was hurting me. I would get to like 5% of health for each character...and that was with having protect/shell/etc from Hope. Wonder what his weapon was and what level. I am at full for my crystalarium, and using axis blade level 1. Maybe I should blaze that up since I have like 6 perfect conductors (1074 exp) with a 3x multiplier.

That mf'er does cast doom. My party = Lightning, Hope, Fang. I'd switch to a medic, sentinel, medic lineup to keep my health in green. Halfway through the fight, the bastard blasted me with doom. I was able to cast Odin (2nd time) to stop the clock and pounded my way to a win with 10s left.
No he just temporarily stops the clock while dishing out some damage.
Lol my party leader is always Lightning so I'm either controlling a Com, a Rav, or a Med. It's all fun.
Destrudo only does mega damage only if you don't attack him while it's powering up
If anyone has good tips on weapon upgrading I am all ears. That is hurting me the most right now with killing stuffs. And if anyone knows good ways to make monies in Gran Pulse so I can buy upgraded stuffs for weapons
Use 36 Vibrant Oozes' (Can purchase from the Creative Creatures store or whatever it is called) to get yourself a 3x bonus then use Perfect conductors since they are 1074 (before multipliers). I went from level 1 Axis blades to level 10 with 9 Perfect Conductors. Also sell all chips for great monies.

Hardest thing now is weapon improvement, characters are coming along nicely.
