wow, just stumbled across this thread.

Very cool! Checked out every page.

I do have one question tho. If you happen to wanna get into the ceiling in the living room down the road to change a fixture or run a wire or something, is there a means to get in there?

Yes there is, via the space above the wrap around porches before the knee walls upstairs, and is accessible from the upstairs storage space on both sides.

My new pad needs a lot of drywall and texture work and I'm trying to decide if i should tackle it myself (never done it) or hire someone. I keep getting mixed messages... sounds like something thats easy to do, but hard to do well h:

Drywall is easy to put up. Drywall is hard to perfect.

I drywalled my closet when I moved in. There are lumps and uneven seams. But that is the look I am going for

Drywall is very hard to get right. Hanging is a piece of cake. Finishing is another story.

And Dubby, you are right, I had to address that stud tonight when I was drywalling the master bedroom. There are some things that the framer did that I am not real happy with, but those types of things do happen if meticulous attention is not paid.

Put 12 more sheets up tonight, hoping I can keep that pace up. If so, I should be ready for finish around the end of March.

Pics from last night's work:

:edit: I apologize for the constant pic updates, but this is the best way to keep me motivated right now. It has been a long winter and the weather is just starting to change and I have been in kind of a funk lately.

Living Room

Living Room/Stairwell

Guest Bedroom

There was also sheets put up in the master, but the pic didn't come out right for some reason. Will take more when I finish up tonight.

Tonight my goal is to get all of the outside walls in both guest bedrooms finished, which is about 8 sheets.

Looking awesome Swaggs - I am envious of your front door - the double door looks sweet. I just have a single door and a side light. Keep it going, just wait till paint!
