Keep telling yourself that. Why get a gun anyway? If they're not intent on killing then just let them take what they want and sit in your bedroom.

So if you rack while standing in the hallway at your room door to warn whoever it is, they know there is only one doorway you can come through. They setup on the same side you would enter from with a club of some kind and knock the gun out your hand as well as you out the way and it is over.

Tactically speaking racking a shotgun has some intimidation but it also can be a huge mistake in letting them know you are coming and where from whether they can see you or not

Yeah, just let them come in and take what they want and go on as they please, right?

Oh, get a sling and practice. Alot. Not just standing still and shooting at fucking paper.

You won't know someone in your house has the intent to kill you until it's too late.

What the hell? I'm just saying that the pump action alone has a high likelihood of scaring someone off, as most people who randomly break into houses aren't looking to kill, they're looking for shit to pawn to feed their drug habits.

Maybe so but if someone is in my home the first thing they hear is going to be the last thing they hear.

I don't own a gun here in FL. Don't have the intent to get one for home protection either for years, if at all. As of now, its the dog and a good neighborhood. As I've said before, I entirely agree with your views on guns, have been trained in usage, and also have high respect for personal fire arms in general. I grew up in the boonies of Western MA / Southern VT, always being around guns. Its much more likely here that a robber is trying to steal your TV (which VERY RARELY happens)...and if thats the case, they are at a severe disadvantage holding a TV when I physically restrain them or crack them over the head with a baseball bat. My only point in all this, is if somebody holding a tv...a petty theif hears a shotgun cock, they're goona drop the tv and run. period. They'll be out of my house, which I can then secure again and keep my family safe.

not that I'd want to be in the situation, but I think in AZ you can legally kill someone in self defense if they are in your home. I'm not sure how I'd act in a high pressure situation. would I want to pump the gun trying to scare someone off, or take them out and have one less bad guy on the streets? I'm told that if you own a gun that the shooting ranges tell everyone to go for a head shot so they can't come back and try to sue you.

Where in any of my posts did I say I was against owning a gun? I own many. They are still in MA though with my dad and uncles. Not owning one now is a personal choice, as is your choices to own them.
