i dont really have a preference, i just happened to buy the 870. My dad has a mossberg 500 12 guage and it is a nice gun, it shoots smooth and is a nice carry in the woods. if you dont hunt, that wont matter to you....

i dont really care for the winchesters cuz to me they are too bulky. they are well built guns but when it comes to walking through thick pines and undergrowth, something that feels a little lighter in the hand goes a long way.

I wouldn't call that a good deal.

It wasnt that exact one. It was new. Clean looking. Pump action, pistol grip, sawed off.

Might have even been all black... I don't remember, it was like 3 years ago.

My house is an intruders nightmare. Child gate at the landing, highly squeaky stairs confined, yappy little dog that barks at anything out of the ordinary. I have 2 methods of defense, my bedroom door, or my sons bedroom door, one faces the stairs, one comes up behind/next to them. I can access either bedroom from the two considering the bathroom connects between them. Plus my dogs pee-pee pads are on the upstairs landing so the criminal would probably step in shit if they did make it to the top, great distraction. Now I just need a shotty for home defenseh:

I have a Winchester 1300 Defender 8-shot...nice gun. They don't make them anymore, but you can find them used. I put on a combo stock/pistol grip, which makes it fun to shoot at the range. For home defense though, the pistol grip only option much is better, especially for getting around corners.
