put your alarm clock right above your head.
place a cup of water on top of the alarm clock.
go to sleep.
alarm goes off.

I have to be at my office at 7 for meetings and whatnot. If I wake up at 6 I can get showered and dressed and out the door by 6:30 which gives me enough time to drive to the office with a stop at the store for coffee and a snack along the way, and be at my desk at 6:55. If I woke up even just 15 miunutes earlier, I'd be able to get out the door with less of a rush in the morning, drive a little slower, and not rush getting my coffee as much.

Problem is I'm a procrastinator in general and that applies to waking up for work too. When I'm asleep and waking up for any reason other than my body deciding it's time to get up, I tend to subconsciously do whatever I possibly can to stay in bed that liiiitle bit longer until I know there's absolutely no more time I can possibly remain in bed and still get where I need to go on time. Then I do everything super fast in getting ready and driving to work to make up for me not dragging my ass out of bed just that little bit earlier.

Oh well, I live with it.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I freaking love sleeping. Anyway, I do the alarm across the room trick. Its worked up until the past two mornings (i've been doing it a long time), but I'm also really stressed and haven't gotten much sleep. If you can put it somewhere away from your bed where you'd have to walk on cold tile (bare feet) and still hear it, I bet that will work even better.

Me and the wife use a two alarm system across the room. We have to get up at seperate times, plus the little one vary rarely lets us sleep til the alarm goes off. But there are some times that he sleeps through the alarm and us getting up turning the lights on, getting dressed..... i have even fully dressed him with him asleep......

So yeah, no luck today. Yesterday I got home from work, studied for 2 hours, then went and played basketball until 11:30pm. Then studied until 1am and had to wake at 6am. I got up on the initial alarm but as I stood there, I looked back down at my bed and hit it for another 10 minutes. Again, I was in a rush afterwards. Maybe it was because of the busy ass night.

Side note: I havent played bball in about 3 years. I got on the court (at the College Grove 24hr fitness) and our team stayed on -- didnt lose -- and still were playing by the time I couldnt run anymore. Then I went to school to study and could BARELY make it up the stairs to the library. Exhaustion is kicking in. Debate due tonight, midterm#2 tomorrow.....nice.

Another thing that would be cool is to NOT look at your clock on the weekends. Get up when you're awake. There's something weird about getting up when there's nothing pressing. It's easier. If you get up and just start your day, look at the clock after you KNOW you're awake. It could be 8:30, it could be 11:30. Either way, you'll get up when rested, so during the week it might make things easier.
