Whoa, you're seriously misinformed. Most civilian AR-15 variants are chambered in 5.56 NATO, not the tigher .223 Rem. Hell, even my Saiga .223 (AK) is chambered in 5.56 NATO, not .223 as marked.

That rediculous muzzle velocity (~3000fps) makes the little 50-some grain 5.56mm rounds disintegrate within a body, making it a very effective military round. That's the only reason 5.56 NATO is still in military service, but now that we're using M4's and CAR-15's with 14.5" and 10.5" barrels respectively with the new 62gr SS109, the 5.56 lost the one advantage it once had over 7,62 NATO.

You can add those to practiacally any firearm you want, assuming you have the time, money, clean record, and paperwork abilities to buy a suppressor.

Preacher: WTF is that thing over the trigger and under the barrel of that Springfield 1911?

You talking about this one?

That is a competition holster. There is a small nub that goes into the tip of the barrel down in the muzzle cup and the trigger guard locks into the upper portion (where you see the locking lever). With the lever locked, I can run a mile without worrying about it coming loose. With the lever unlocked, I can draw and fire in about 3/10ths of a second, 1/2 a second if I want to hit the target

IPSC competition is all about speed and accuracy while moving. You fire at sillouette targets, partially occluded targets, steel targets, poppers, bad guys holding hostages, moving targets and you do all this while running, not walking, running through an obstacle course of barriers, barrels, moving from cover to cover etc. The idea to to hit all the bad guys in the kill zones without hitting any good guys and do it in the least amount of time.

I'm fimiliar with the class and some of their specialty holsters, I've just never seen one quite like that, didn't recognize it. Neat.

The one in the last picture with the funky holster has Hougue wrap around grips, I have that grip on one of my paintball guns. It feels amazing.

Ummm.... which one?

I have the Pachmeyer rubber wrap-arounds, redwood and cherry wood grips, and my ivory 82nd Airborne grips. Only the cheery grips on the RIA pistol are the ones that came with it, all of my other pistols have aftermarket grips.

My favorites are these:
