That is a competition holster. There is a small nub that goes into the tip of the barrel down in the muzzle cup and the trigger guard locks into the upper portion (where you see the locking lever). With the lever locked, I can run a mile without worrying about it coming loose. With the lever unlocked, I can draw and fire in about 3/10ths of a second, 1/2 a second if I want to hit the target

IPSC competition is all about speed and accuracy while moving. You fire at sillouette targets, partially occluded targets, steel targets, poppers, bad guys holding hostages, moving targets and you do all this while running, not walking, running through an obstacle course of barriers, barrels, moving from cover to cover etc. The idea to to hit all the bad guys in the kill zones without hitting any good guys and do it in the least amount of time.
