And as for human rights... why don't you do some research into how wonderful things are in Nigeria? What, haven't heard anything about it on the news? Maybe that's because Shell is making billions of dollars a year from the oil it's pumping out of Nigeria?
Hmmm......
Big government doesn't care about human rights violations, dictatorship, any of that bullshit. They'll prattle on about democracy but the bottom line is this:
As long as the country opens its borders to free trade, there's no problem. We'll turn a blind eye. But if they don't allow US-based multinationals in, all of a sudden they're the bad guy.

BTW RB when were we directly threatened by Iraq?
We asked if we could enter their borders and were told no...that is when all this jumped off and took a side track...we still haven't found any weapons of mass destruction to prove that we were justified in our attack.

when they again refused the mandatory UN inspections. What is a logical reason for refusing them, if they don't have anything? :dunno:

I love how everyone was all concerned that Iraq refused the UN inspections, but then it's okay for US to go against the UN by invading Iraq. :wtf:

Okay, let's play pretend. You and your best friend are sitting at a 2 person table at McDonalds.
A man comes in with a gun, and says "You two are both evil and I hate you."
The man shoots your friend in the face.
You will:
A) Assume the man IS NOT going to shoot you in the face next.
B) Assume the man IS going to shoot you in the face next.

Well good, you know, I'm really looking forward to mutually assured destruction. I've felt out of thermonuclear danger since the cold war stopped and I really miss it. :jerkit:

But really we aren't talking about domestic economic policy. I was commenting upon how large US-based multinational corporations affect foreign policy.

I don't subscribe to Keynsian economic theory. It is my opinion that Bush's policies are flawed.

1: You don't subsribe to modern economics?!!????!!?
2: It boils down to this, the US and China CAN'T AFFORD TO GO TO WAR with each other. The world market depends too heavily on the US, and China, as do each respective country's economy. That, and if the UN got involved and that = more economic sanctions. China would be a 3rd world country again. as far as death numbers... yea, those would be big and ugly
. BUT eventually we would use nukes to stop the numbers on our side from rising and to end the war, just like we did with Japan.
BTW: nobody likes war, so don't try and label me a war-monger. You can if you want, it has no effect on me, but just don't think that anyone WANTS to go to war.

Secondly, I think right now the mean propensity to consume is too low for tax cuts to have any real effect on the economy. People are still uncertain and reluctant to spend.
