Default grinding???

hey what is all this I hear about the rsx type-s having problems with 2nd gear and 3rd gear grinding? If you read on clubrsx.com there are a lot of people who have the problem, however they shift... I was considering getting an S but that is kind of swaying me away, I know the dealer would/should cover it, but it would not only be an inconvenience to have it done, but people on clubrsx.com have had it done and it still started happening in a few weeks again. What is your guys' take on this? Did honda/acura screw up on the new designed syncros for the type-s?

yeah they did screw it up.......and even on the newer models (i have an 03 type s) and it's still messed up. Mine only happens at redline which isn't so bad but some guys have hard grinds throughout the rev range.
I'd still recommend the s...the performance and style are great and it responds really well to mods. And, hopefully with a quick fix i.e. short shifter the grind should cease. It's all up to you though. Oh...btw...most of thiese grind problems seems to diminish once you put dome miles on the car it's only a few (like me) who have it persist.

oh I know, I love the car, and the even though it may have problems of grinding it still may not be enough to sway me away from it. But the point is, why pay over 20K for a car that grinds and that most dealers do not want to do anything about, I was dissapointed in honda/acura when I heard this.....It wasnt about the problem, it was mostly that they didnt want to do anything about it in most cases....

there is a tsb released for it.......so you shouldn't have any dealer probs. but do your research at a dealer and get it addressed by them b4 you buy

gomt mine repaired under warranty w/ no problems. Just take it in and say it pops out of gear sometimes, nothin major, just like 5 times in the last month, and " can u check it out " the tech will then drive your car, not find anything wrong but just to be sure acura will tear apart your tranny and WILL find ****ed up gears that they will have to replace b/c you dont race or drive hard :naughty: , at all!!! :naughty: You can also replace some parts in the drivetrain w/ aftermarket shit, as I did.
