the h22a swap is one of the cheapest swaps out there right now
at least compared to the b18c and b16a swaps which are the 2 most common ones.
heres a taste of why you should get a h22a :naughty:

yeah, it doesn't seem like much at all compared to the b18c. But I'd love to swap out my 23 with an H22a Type S (is that teh a5?)...otherwise, I don't know if I'd want to spend over 2 grand for 30 horsepower (I'd spend money swap or not as well to buy parts like headers, intake etc.)

Default bolt ons

the header and intake help a good amount on a h22a its a pretty easily upgradable engine, the bolt ons for that engine will put it into the mid 14's if you are perfect on shifting.
its a good deal, especially in a civi hatc, i may just buy a 93 civic with a blown motor and drop an h22a into it, from what ive seen itll be high 13's all engine. but for everyday driving the prelude does ok, its faster and handles better than 9 out of 10 cars on the road today, new or old. plus its a direct swap. not to say that the other swaps are hard cause they are remarkably easy also...
just another good reason why hondas are like lego's
you could have a 13 second h22a civic held together with duck tape if you wanted too.
its ridiculous

I own a 2g non-turbo eclipse, and associate with many DSM tuners here. I haven't raced many preludes on the street, but the best this car will do (stock) is mid 16's. Being a member of 2gnt.com , I can tell you that the fastest NA dsms are hitting 15.3 range, with considerable mods.

Non-turbo eclipses should lose to H22's, unless you really mess up. Yes, it is a version of the neon engine.

4g63 (turbo) DSMS are flat out dangerous, when tuned properly. If you ever come across someone serious about his DSM, you can expect him to hit 12's or 13's.

see http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/quartermilelist.php

This should give you guys a good comparison when you're lining up against a DSM.

my friend has a 4g63 in his 93 talon tsi, hes planning to get a big 16g, full 3" exhaust, and a race prepped automatic tranny.
as i understand it he will be putting like nearly 400 HP to the wheels, and running some killer times.
i have a lot of respect for diamond star motors and turbo mitsu's, even though i roll in a honda.
a lot of people on both sides will tell you though...
nothing handles like a honda
in a car or bike

i'll go with that...

I plan to do some light autox and closed track racing, and I'm getting a 5th gen 'lude to do it....

That's why i'm here... learning what to, and what NOT to get. I wish I would have done this before getting the GS eclipse.

hmm, depending on how much money you're willing to spend and how much work you'd want to put in, for 15,000 you could get a decent s14 body and an sr20det or rb25det tuned and installed, and murder 5th gens on the track/street/course. I love my 5th gen, but personally i'd rather have an s14 rb25det. but i've already got my lude and no money for a project car right now...

actually i'd love to have a 1971 2002 tii, restore it, mod it, and auto-x it.

but yes i love my lude so no one flame me for loving nissan and bmw too
