Default prelude vs eclipes

My friend has a 97 RS eclipes I have a 96 Prelude Si we raced a couple months ago. I beat him by at least a car length until i hit 70 then backed off. He is trying to convince me that because his car is geared lower that it would come back and win at higher speeds would that happen or is this kid full of sh*t?

what kind of speeds is he talking about? lol cause when I was in my friends 96 prelude Si we raced a non-turbo 2nd gen eclipse and went all the way to 110 and they were actually losing more ground......the 2nd gen eclipses are really heavy and if they are non-turbo without a lot of engine work they wont go anywhere, ive even seen 4th gen vtec ludes and 5th gen ludes beat tge GS-T models before....

I think you're buddy is just sour because you beat him.Anyone can come up with excuses,if you really want to see what each other's cars can do,take to the dragstrip.NO excuses there.on top of that non tubo eclipses ARE heavy and not all that quite in stock trim.

THis is the driver of the RS Eclipse...

I realize that a 96 Prelude Si has more horsepower than my car and realistically should be faster...but the funny this is is that my friend refuses to race me regardless of this...i have an intake and an exhaust for performance mods and this scares him for some reason...

also...2nd gen eclipses are not heavy at all...they are lighter than a 96 Prelude and lighter than the 1st gen eclipses as well...so you are totally in the wrong there...

another thing...you may have seen plenty of 4th and 5th gen vtech preludes beat GST eclipses...however...when it gets down to modding out cars what does it really matter what car beats what car because you talking about lots of money under the hood...say that this eclipse GST and this 4th 5th gen vtech prelude were both stock...if that prelude did win it would be because of terrible driving because the 2ng gen eclipse lighter and has more horsepower...

:madfawk: I thank you

Another interesting thing I saw in the original post was :"He is trying to convince me that because his car is geared lower that it would come back and win at higher speeds " That is hella bullsh*t anyway. If the car was geared lower he would get you on take off....it would get you on top end if it were geared higher/taller. Tell him to just accept he lost.

The prelude is geared lower than the eclipse...and that was not me who said that...it was the kid drivin the prelude...he started this post in the first place...i did not...also...i never said that i would come back and beat him either...he just took it that way because he dont know **** about cars...i merely said that his car was faster off the line than mine because it is geared lower...which in turn would mean that i should slowly catch up...regardless...his car is faster than mine...but racing from 0-60 is hardly a race...

the outcome was that he had me by less than a half a car length at 60mph...you can make your own assumptions of what the outcome would have been at 100mph...

I can say VTEC just fine...i just cant type it all that well it seems...besides...the reason this post was started has absolutely nothing to do with a VTEC anyways...at least post a reply that pertains to the topic at hand...
