prelude vs eclipes
Ok first of the kid with the caviler was being a cock and was riding my ass so i downshifted and when he went to pass me i only had the rpms up to 4 grand so when i punched it down he was already starting to pass me so i didnt have a prayer. If it was off the line he would been smoked. I dont think im a horrible driver but the kid andy that i raced with the eclipes does have a year on me and i have only been driving my prelude for like 6 months so yeah im not the best with it but im not bad. I do admit that i have alot to learn. Andy all I gotta say is were gonna have to go on the highway when i got my exhaust and intake in there then well have to all let it hang out then all let you have bragging rights! That is if you win! :fawk:
okay you both are slow.. .. ..
correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that all non-turbo 2nd Gen eclipse have the same engine with the neon(420a),, also guys, stop acting like rice boys and think the exhaust and intake will make your cars race cars...... 10hp?? like that's gonna make your car real fast...
anyway, i think it's all about the driver. but if the same driver drive both cars, the prelude should take the 2nd gen eclipse RS, i don't know if they can take the GST though. the 5th gen prelude will have a good race with GST, but definately slower than a GSX. but then again the GST can put a few mods and beat the prelude bad.

First off...neither of us are acting like rice boys...go get yourself some Hooked on Phonics and then go back and read what i said...i said straight up that and exhaust and intake would add 10 hp MAX...i would be suprised if i even got that...i never said my car was fast...and i never said it was a race car...neither of us did...
Second...racing is at least 80 percent the car and 20 percent the driver...if that...when it comes down to a few horsepower like in this case then yes...the driver would have quite a bit to do with it..
You are exactly right about the engine in my eclipse...it is a 420a...same engine that is in one of the neons...but what exactly is your point?
Third...any 2g eclipse turbo would stomp on a 5th gen prelude...and a GSX would simply creamate a 5th gen lude off the line...
Fourth...Brian...i have put nearly the same amount of miles on my car that you have...and even so i had my car 6 months longer than you...not a year...so you have no argument there...

Fact: Any Vtec Lude will romp an a gen2 GS or RS Eclipse.
Fact: Gen2 Eclipse is lighter than gen3, but I do not know about weight compared to a Lude.
IMO: It IS easier to pull horsepower out of a GS-T or GSX because of the turbo, I've seen the potential of these cars, but there is as much potential in boosting a lude and growing serious horsepower as well.
So... what car is faster is dependent upon the level of the build of the engine, both cars have tremendous potential, and both have a whole ton of respect in the import community. The only true way to argue is ofcourse on the track. Lets leave it at that.:bigok:

i've owned a 2nd Gen GSX and a 5th Gen Prelude,
2nd Gen GSX is about 3200 lbs, GST is about 100 lbs lighter.
5th Gen Prelude is around 2900 lbs.
sorry i don't even remember what the arguement was in this thread, but i guess my point on the 420a is,,, it sucks... don't mod it, it's not meant to be mod'ed.
yes, racing in a straight line depends on the car at least 80%, but if the driver is a dumbass, no matter what he drives he always loses.
sorry i'm too lazy to read back the whole thread, but i guess i just found it really funny that the prelude guy is afraid to race the "neon" because the "neon" has some sort of "racing" exhaust and intake......
hahaha, well i just found it funny but if i ofend you in anyway, i'm sorry, didn't mean anything bad.
oh by the way, sell that neon to your sister and buy a real car. :P

no car is meant to be modded...cars dont come out of the factory meant to be modded...and yes...it is an eclipse...not a neon...
also...not everyone can afford a so called "real car" or in your case it would be a 5th gen lude or a 2g gsx...either your 19 years old and mommy is payin for your car or you've graduated from college and have a good job that allows you to afford an expensive car yourself...or else you just struggle to make car and insurance payments and have no money to put into a car...
WHICH ONE IS IT?
by the way...GOOD CALL honda_pilot

for the record:
ditch the h23a1, it really doesnt make enough power (NA), even with all the bolt ons, my engine stock would destroy you.
turbo is the only thing an h23a1 is good for.
i know this because i raced a 96 prelude Si (it had dual exhaust coincidentally) with a sh*t load of bolt ons, and a nice big tach.
this is a few days after i finished breaking my fresh engine in.
he went on 2 instead of 3 and got a car length head start but that didnt matter, because i was still in 2nd gear at 65 mph while his h23 was trudging well into 3rd. i couldnt even see him anymore on the highway by the time i topped out 3rd at 90.
then my bro beat his ass after me with his 93 talon tsi.
then i beat my bros ass.
also
i raced a 1995 GSX with my h23a1 injectors on my h22a1 and was dead even at about 80-90.
i had the wrong injectors in when i raced the 96 lude too, but that didnt even matter.
now that i have the right injectors (345cc) no honda (besides the s2000) is safe from me. :fawk:
i take 5th gen ludes too no problem
the turbo eclipses definitely have more potential "from the factory" because it already has a turbo on it. but i agree with the earlier comment that a turbo prelude can easily compete with a super boosted eclipse.
dont forget that honda makes 197 horsepower from a 2.2 liter NA engine in 1992, that fact alone is very impressive. the fact is NO mitsubishi 4 cylinder NA engine will ever come close to the power honda has with DOHC VTEC engines. not too mention that engine life decreases severely when you start playing with boost levels
boost is for wussies

2nd, a 2g stock turbo'd DSM will kill any stock lude because they've got something we honda kids have never had: low end torque. Which is precisely why drag racing people in preludes, civics, or teg's is stupid. learn how to drive and nail em in the turns. unless you WANT to spend 12,000 turning your civvy into a 13 second car...i'd rather just buy an Evo or an STi...

2. explain why my engine (stock) beat my friends 93 "diamond star motors" talon tsi, with a removed boost restrictor from the BCS.
the answer is that you are thinking on a level where you think racing a civic dx is a race
no offense but...
(oh sh*t my hyperflex kit just came)
too many people on both sides talk about racing hondas that really arent that fast. half these videos you download claim its an si when its really a dx, and thats why you see it getting stomped
you ask anybody who would win, a 5.0 or a prelude
guarantee majority would say 5.0
well i snuffed a 5.0 with at least exhaust mods just last night.
and i have a stock h22a1 muffler
btw, most GS-T's and Tsi's are finished by 120k
