the answer is that you are thinking on a level where you think racing a civic dx is a race
no offense but...

(oh sh*t my hyperflex kit just came)

too many people on both sides talk about racing hondas that really arent that fast. half these videos you download claim its an si when its really a dx, and thats why you see it getting stomped
you ask anybody who would win, a 5.0 or a prelude
guarantee majority would say 5.0
well i snuffed a 5.0 with at least exhaust mods just last night.
and i have a stock h22a1 muffler

btw, most GS-T's and Tsi's are finished by 120k

~boomer
well obviously, those POS DSM's fall apart probably sooner than 120K, but since we're not talking about value or looks either for that matter...

there are a couple reasons why you might have beat the tsi: bad launch/good launch, tires, tranny, his tuning setup (or lack thereof-how much boost was he running on what kind of turbo?) a million different variables really. not to say it wasn't a good kill...i mean we all decide to race in the end anyway because numbers aren't the whole story right?

the 5.0 i have no answer for. you should have been seeing brakelights

insofar as making Civics and Ludes, and Integras, and CR-V's and Accord Coupe's into drag racers, it's never made sense to me. Honda's never been a sheer power company, as is evidenced by the cars they build--they've always tried to hold their own in other arenas, whether it's reliability, affordability, palatable looks, or great handling* (like ludes or tegs). I'm not trying to cap on the guys here that do want 12 sec 1/4's, but it would have been alot easier if you went with another car co. from the start...like chevy, ford, or pontiac. It's still prob easier and cheaper now to get an s13/14 drop in an sr20det or rb25det and do some major dyno damage...but i digress...

*i wish honda would have made a full commitment to "handling" by giving us 'ludes with LSD...or RWD...

i have a 94 prelude si. my sh*t is hell a slow.stock.
exhaust, headers, intake are not going to make u fast.
if you want brag'n rights, you have to put a lot of work in to ur import. research ur ride, ghetto rigg it, start smoke'n domestics, and then you will get some respect.
most Muscle Car owners take the cheap way out and buy their cars fast and then start talk'n shmuzz. (u guys can lick my b@lls, cuz i eat.eat.eat. m.c.'s)
you get no respect buying a gt stang and being satisfied with the stock horses and torq. (and strap'n a flow master on isnt sh*t either.)
lastly to all domestics out there, dont pick on my h23 cuz i'll fart 18lbs. of psi on ur @ss. i dont care if u have a Z06, u come at me, u better be fart'n flames out ur pipes.
(now thats respect when you can say something like that)

lol, no offense, but I don't think you can garner any reasonable amount of respect by saying "fart" that many times. But boy, I'd sure like to own a Stang GT with my 94 Si. About the earlier comment regarding LSD in the Prelude, apparently some came with them in Japan, so I'm gonna start looking into just getting a transmission from a JDM H22 with the LSD. The ratios are almost exactly the same, and it will fit because all that's different is the head, yes? Of course Quaife makes a great LSD from what I hear, but talking hours to pay a tech to do the job, the 9+ to overhaul the transmission and replace the OEM diff with an LSD would be a lot more $$ than just the 3+ it takes to replace a transmission.

yeah but dood in the z06 is pulling way more chicks with his vette, you can be sure. :P

i could have the world's fastest prelude, but some guy in a 325ci will get more respect from the women, unless all the women you meet hangout at car shows all day...and we all know THAT type.

hehe jk.

bottom line for me is that the z06 will destroy you on a course. in a straight line you may hang...

yes the h22a LSD tranny will fit on you h23a1

no the head is not the only thing different between the h22a and the h23a1.

Same Rods
Same PGMFI System
Dif Pistons
Dif Head
DIf Block (h22a/1 has a FRM sleeved block)
Dif Crank
Dif Intake Manifold
Dif Injectors
Dif Header
Dif Timing Belt Assmbly

and i cant believe you guys started out by talking about racing an eclipse rs. isnt that the slowest eclipse ever.
racing that wouldnt be worth my time h:

cool on the LSD.

Well yeah, I didn't think about the pistions and crank, obviously because the 22 has a shorter stroke. and of course manifold, injectors, yada yada yada, it was my fault for not saying, but what I really should've said was "the lower section of the block where the transmission attaches to the engine is the same, right?" You've pretty much hit that on the head for me, thanks. Perhaps I'll do that, but I'd really like a 22 in my car.

then drop the 1500 - 2000 on it
and do it yourself
or you should at least
otherwise it will cost you a few pennies
a place near me does it for like 800 i think

i had no choice, i had to get a new engine (blew #2 CR bearing @ 159k)

so i just worked my ass off and rode a bike to my job for 2 months (my whole last summer) and eventually became a mad scientist in my garage in the middle of the night with this engine on a stand.

two things to make sure you do if you get a h22a
1. - Get a radar detector and practice self control
2. - Dont get loud exhaust (trust me, the engine is too fast to have loud exhaust)

other riced out hondas sound like they are doing like 90 but are really doing like 50
my h22a sounded like it was doing 90 and was really doing 90)
which is why i am at war with the authorities

well that all depends on what "loud" is. By the way, where did you get a 22 with LSD tranny for $1500-$2000? I don't think I'm capable of making the swap, but luckily my dad has a technician who just helped another coworker swap a jdm b16 into his civic a few months ago, they just hung around after work one saturday and completed the job sameday.
