My argument to this discussion for the past 3 years has always been the same. Whether any NSX made ever beat any Corvette made is irrelevant. You don't buy an NSX because you enjoy street racing every mullet that pulls up next to you in a Camaro or a Corvette. I bought mine because there's not someone driving one at every light, on every corner. Although i've ended up 'playing' around with a few C5 Vette's from a stop, I don't see much difference in the acceleration of them or my stock 92 NSX. Sometimes I'll end up a car length ahead, or just about dead even. Winning is great, but its just as great as a tie, when you race a car with 2 more cylinders than your car. Chevrolet builds a car with a 340hp V8, where as Honda gets the same, and in most cases better, results with a V6 car having 50 less hp. What are the Chevy fans trying to prove buy arguing against the two? Thats like NSX people bragging about how the NSX can smoke a 4 cylinder Ford ZX3. Big deal.

And you probably never will. Or why some wine costs more than others. Or why some paintings are worth more than others.

i think you could import a skyline for that much
<sigh> Where do these people come from? Go to Japan and ask the first person you meet if they would rather have a Skyline or an NSX.
Then, get back on the plane, fly home and erase your post.

Why not go all the way into Troll-dom and say "shucks, my freind Jasper says his Mustang is a sweet-ass ride and he done got it fur even less."

The C5 Corvette is significantly quicker than the 3.0 NSX. The C5 and the 3.2 NSX are pretty evenly matched for straightline performance. The Z06 is much quicker than the 3.2 NSX.

New Corvettes are great cars not only for straightline speed but also for autoX and trackday work.

IMHO, the NSX is more interestingly engineered and boasts a far superior interior (quality of materials, styling). The NSX owner also buys exotic car exclusivity. If I could afford one, I would take the NSX over the Z06. If I only had $50k to spend, I would be proud to own the Z06, knowing it could humble anything this side of a 911 Turbo.

Why not, you give props to posers in Civics that run 17 sec in the 1/4. I figure you buy what you like and whats in your price range. As for the NSX if you have the cash go for it just dont expect to blow the doors off of any random car, like Vetts, LS1's, and the 03' Cobra.

It's a hard argument, they are really two completely different cars. And they are about even in the speed department, there are just a lot of variables.

The Z06 is significantly faster and will also outhandle the NSX.

I know, I'm an SCCA auto crosser and I had an NSX. My Z06 on the same tracks is about 3 to 4 seconds faster per lap.
Holy smokes, how long are your autocross runs? 3-4 seconds is HUGE considering most of our courses last 60-90 seconds at MOST.

Not sure if the NSX is in the same class (SoloII) as the Z06. SS or AS?

The NSX was not overpriced when it first came out. It is overpriced NOW because it hasn't changed much since it's inception.

It needs a Honda V8
