That member got banned because he made constant personal attacks irrevelent to the discussion and trying to insinuate a flamewar, not because of his Toyota-bandwagon propaganda. He used you as his tool for his crying to make himself look and act "innocent".

Just to add something that noone has said, the 2002 vs 2003 altima dyno is not real proof. No engine puts out the exact same amount of power each time it is manufactured. BMW's limit is 12% off/in addition to their claimed horsepower, I believe. That's quite a bit. However, the loss of torque is interesting nonetheless.

Not even going into conditions when tested..

Best way would to be get two altima's, one 02 and one 03, put a set of new tires on each and take em to the track at the same time.

Very good point. I know this but everyone was complaining about a few HP differences, that's why I had to give some kind of proof. But yes, that's very true. Which is why it doesn't really matter if a manufacture state 240HP or 255HP because like you said, that's still w/in the valid HP range.

Why are you guys arguing over 5 hp?

The difference between 240 and 245 hp is so insignificant that it would hardly affect performance at all. There isn't a single person here who could tell the difference between 240hp and 245hp by driving the car.

You are correct, and Nissan wasted their R&D dollars to gain a pathetic 5hp. That's so pointless, but they really wanna have class leading hp I guess.

I doubt they spent much $$ on R&D. Remember the Altima is the weakest out of all cars w/ VQ35DE in them. Also, even w/ the 350Z, they didn't break into the internal yet, just modified exhaust, intake and ECU tunning. What I'm trying to say is that they probably just make the Altima breath a little bit easier and there's your 5HP.

...Or they did absolutely nothing, since the Altima already put out somewhere between 240 and 255 horsepower at the crank, and it's all marketing.

That could also be true as well. Which means that they're not wasting any $$ on R&D and still have the top HP spec for the marketing to work with.

You'd really be suprised how much it cost to change the smallest detail of a vehicle.
