Huh? They quoted 255 HP in their commercials and the next nite, it was 255 HP?

My bad...I just edited my post...I have too many things on my mind...it should have been 260 and then 255.

I didn't remember them ever saying it was 260HP, but I could be wrong. But you would think, why would they say 260HP when the G35 has 260. That would affect their own cars. I doubt they would do that.

How could that be a lie? But now you want to bring up the Maxima? The Maxima dyno @ 206WHP which is about 19% drivetrain loss. I agree that the number is only 5HP more than the Altima, it could be because of a number of different reason. That particular Maxima has a weaker engine than average. Either way, it's still w/in a reasonable drivetrain loss range. Can you show me the Accord's Dyno and tell me how much drivetrain loss does it have? Prove to me that 15%-20% isn't normal drivetrain loss and i'll shut up. Even an NSX have 20% drivetrain loss.

Instead of just sitting there telling "Nissan lied" "Nissan lied", why don't you show me the proof, ie. dyno graph.
It's just that we've gone over this so many times its not even funny.

Sorry if the dildo thing offended you, I thought it was funny.

Question about the Q45, wasnt it 345hp last year? I coulda sworn it was, now they say 340hp.

It may not have been changed over night in a commercial but when nissan first came out with the new engines they rated them at 260hp. Claimed the most HP in its class. Then when some magazine got ahold of one to test they found out it had less and Nissan had to adjust the hp figures accordingly. Basically they either got cought lying or did some pretty bad calculations.

Oh yah, i remember what you were refering to now. It was before they release the car. In the beginning, they were saying that the Max. will be 260HP and the Spec-V will be 180HP. This is months before they were release. Then a month or so before they release the car, they changed both to 175hp and 255 hp. They didn't state a reason, but the official # were 255 and 175.

About the Q45, I always thought it was rated @ 340HP. I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure it's 340HP.

yeah, your right i think. for some reason i remember 345hp.

anyways, 02 was joking about the fact that Nissan has been sort of shady in their quest to win the hp race.

one thing i really wanna know is how the 03' altima got the extra 5hp. im not saying they lied, i was just wondering how.

I'm sure they got that HP through better intake and exhaust. I think that's how they got the power between the G35 and the G35c too. not 100% sure though. The '03 Altima dyno @ 207WHP and 224ft-lb of tq, so it gain 5 HP but lost 3ft-lb of tq. With that large engine, I don't think it'll be too hard to adjust the intake and exhaust to make decent gains. Especially when the original was pretty restricted.

personally, I think it's good that they're trying real hard to win the HP race. W/out the Altima w/ 240HP, who knows if the Accord would come out w/ 240HP. In the end, it doesn't matter who wins, because for sure the customer would be the final winner.

Man there is a bunch of bull sh*t going on in this thread. Yanni you are known for making up seriously false stuff without any proof. Nissan never had a commercial for the maxima stating 260hp!!! Nissan never had a commercial for the Q45 with 345hp.

Stop making up stuff to make other companies look bad. Does the Altima 240hp?? We will never know until somebody takes the engine out the dyno it at the crank. Oh and just for referrence the CL-S has 260hp, less weight, better gearing, LSD, 6spd and yet it does 0-60 in the same time an Altima does. These cars were tested on the same track, same driver.

The Q45 was dynoed and prove to have the claimed hp. Nissan just test the car with no options to get the 0-60 of 5.9secs, although C&D got 6.0secs and some other place got 5.8secs.

Get off the fake hp claims without proof!!

And yes the 2003 Altima does have 245hp and yes there is a difference there is a dyno between a 2003 and 2002 and the 2003 had 6 more horse to the ground.

Once again when you get factual data and not stuff you heard or thought or read somewhere that nobody else of heard of or read, then lets talk.

Yanni you would suck at being a lawyer.
