Default No Civic Type-R

Sadly, The 2003 Si Factory Performance Package got the fricken 17" Type-R wheels. Don't hold your breath for the CTR, folks, not this generation.

Damnit...although this only raises the expectation of the RSR-R to come over here!

why? they started offering the RSX-R suspension, wheels, and body kit for the RSX-S. Although it is expensive at $5,000 for the package plus labor, I don't think Honda would bring the 'R' to America. To justify the package for the 'S', the 'R' would have to be almost $8,000 more than the 'S'. So then why not drop the package?...I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that.

Why? Because the wheels/tires are the major complaint on the Si. I figured they held back to leave room for a Type-R. Now if you can get them for under 3 grand, a Type-R option is kind of stupid.

The RSX-S FP consists of aftermarket wheels, a kit, a type-r spoiler, and some suspension mods i think...certainly not a type-r. I can think of many reasons a person would buy the RSX-S FP over the G4 ITR, many due to luxury considerations and looks (personal taste).

Major magazines know very little about this sort of topic, don't believe them too much. None have inside sources, most of their stories are pretty well finialized weeks in advance of when you read it, and most of all they have to cover the entire industry...they don't have a Honda/Acura consultant. Although I used to think it'd come over, I no longer do. Sorry. I wish to God it would come over. The CTR might take away sales from the RSX-S, but the Si and RSX already are direct competitors...so IMO that aspect really doesn't matter since they'll sell 20,000 RSX-S's and about 3,000 CTR's...the money goes to Honda no matter where it is, and the CTR will undoubtably sell out very quickly. Maybe it eats up 1,000 RSX-S sales...but again, besides the point.

Yeah, we've gone over this many times

Anyways, chances of seeing a RSX Type R are much better than those of seeing a Civic Type R. That's the most anyone can say at this time. I hope to see both

The gunmetal 17" rims? Those are nice, though not that nice on a regular Si.

It seems as if 17" wheels and tires should have been standard issue on the Si, not the wimpy 15" Insight tires. For Chrissake Honda, 195/60R-15 on your Si model?

At LEAST give us 205/55VR-16's.
