Who said it's not going to be out until 2007 and it's only going to have 300 hp? For all we know Honda is working on making an IMA V6 ready for production so they left it out of the concept version.

Given the nature of assembly of the NSX, I think it could be brought to production well before 2007. It's produced in a small factory similar to the one that Ford built for the GT, and that car was brought from concept to production in about 18 months.

OK, even if it's 2005, ( I've seen both # posted around the net w/ no real confirmation date) still a long time from now. Also, there's no mention of IMA and Honda stated a while back that IMA is nto ready for production. I saw it here, but forgot which thread. They also didn't state anything about IMA, so I have to take their word for it. Everything else is pure speculation.

300hp V6 is not enough. I mean, it is enough for the car, but for bragging rights/image (which means marketing) it needs more. 400 would be great... 350 is alright. With the TL doin' 270... 300 is not enough.

All the Honda guy said is that the NSX is going to be replaced with something similar to the HSC. Nothing else has come from credible information within Honda. We all know that Honda is very secretive about its upcoming models and that recently all of the V6-powered cars have received pretty sizeable power increases. So yeah, maybe the IMA system wasn't ready for production whenever the comments were made about it. I certainly don't think an IMA V6 is a highly likely proposition for the next NSX. I'm just not ready to completely discount the possibility.

Presumably Honda would want the NSX to be competitive with the Porsche 911 which weighs in at about 3000 lbs and has 320 hp. I'm thinking that the HSC/NSX is going to be significantly lighter than the current car. Aluminum fabrication and design has progressed a ton since the original NSX came out and even though crash standards now require a sturdier chassis I think Honda will be able to trim a good amount of weight.

Seeing how Japanese tend to be much cheaper than their German competitor in the same class, I would say the NSX would be in the class of the 911 turbo, not the regular 911. Which means 300HP is no where near enough unless the weight is in the low 2000 lbs. This is not considering all the new sport cars coming out w/in the next year or two will be 400+, M3, M5, CTS-V, and etc. Then there are cars like the next GT-R w/ 480+ HP, the next C6 & Z06 w/ 400&500HP, and even the current 911 turbo is already 415HP.

Sure Japanese cars tend to beless expensive than their German counterparts with similar power levels. However I would not consider sedans such as the CTS-V and M5 to be competition with the NSX. There's also the fact that the current NSX is already more expensive than the 911 Carerra even though it's short 28 hp. Honda hasn't bothered to make the NSX competitive in terms of horsepower for a long time and I'm not convinced they really give a shit about doing it with the new car. There are other things that go into it for the price. If people want something that offers competitve performance with higher-priced cars then they get a 350Z, WRX STi or EVO.

I am still leaning towards that there is a possbility Honda will put IMA on NSX in an year or two after its new release. Maybe a reworked C32 engine or a new 3.5L with 320+ power for a weight little closer to the Type-R version. That will be a very strong competiton to wrestle with likes 911 & GTR. Also be aware that the new 911 won't be around until 2007 or 2008. So there is a room for change

C&D seems to be under the impression that the NSX will have 350+ horsepower :dunno:

Considering that a Z06 weighs in at roughly 3200lb and comes with 400hp, and costs about $51K, I'd like to see te NSX, which costs abot $90K, come equiped with 400hp off the bat. Same goes for the 911, by the way. That is very doubtful, if it is equiped with a 3.0 V6 and no IMA, which is too bad.

Obvoiusly the NSX is far more refined than any Corvette ever was, but it's still a sports car. I'd like to see it compete with the Vette in all measures of performance, not only handling (in which it will probably outdo the next version of the Vette). And I'd like to see Honda not wait 14 or 15 years for the next update.

Either way it's sure to be a great car, and it'll be exciting to see what Honda does with the production version.
