is anyone elses passport and piece of crap?
I still love my 99 Rodeo. Like I said, I wanted the Passport, but the Rodeo was so much cheaper. The real truth is, unless you get a BMW or Benz, most SUVs are pieces of shit. I haven't had any better experiences with anything else you can consider a "normal" SUV. The problem is, if you can afford the X5 or the ML, can you still afford all the required maintenance that goes along with it. I'll take my Rodeo where if something goes wrong it costs a few hundred to fix instead of a few thousand......plus maintenance!
i have a 97 passport, and i have no problems with it. it is very nice, comfortable to drive, and as for the price, i didnt buy it so i dont care. my mom bought it for me, and you can make what you want of that, but a free car is a free car. im not complaining about it
I got a 98 Isuzu Rodeo with 50k miles on it and it runs like a charm. The engine is smooth, burns no oil, start every time cold or hot. I use regular Penzoil because it is not a daily driver and get oil change every 3k miles, where most are from winter driving.
The Passport was a low grade Isuzu rebadged to be a Honda. It is strange that it a noticeable number of them didn't do well. I guess Isuzu didn't want to do a good job on those vehicles since they're not going to be Isuzu vehicles.

Acura MDX is probably the best car for the money. It is one of those SUV you can actually enjoy taken to nice restaurants with valet parking with, regardless of its age. It is also reliable and is a charm to drive. It is as comfortable and luxurious as the upscale Lexus, so it only cost half as much.
If you want something reliable, strong, and can be driven or towing hard, you will be happy with a Pathfinder.
I'll take a MDX, Pathfinder, and Lexus over those European rides any day of the week. American SUVs are good for nothing but drinking gas while doing little work.

He visted 10 Acura dealership and the best offer he could find was a few hundred dollar off MSRP, after dealering direct with the managers. If you do the math, a MDX would had run DEPENDING on model, up to $48k+. For that price....HELLO X5, HELLO RX330......these 2 SUVs hands down are superior to the MDX.
X5 = Garbage (BMW has had cooling issues with them since they came out, and maintainance is 3x what the MDX would be)
RX330 is nice, but not as powerful (nor as sharp looking in my opinion)
MDX is a great luxury SUV. It starts at about 36k, and that's fully loaded if you ask me (you don't need nav). Quite a deal for what it offers.
But then again, Honda has always been about value anyway, so no surprise there.
I was seriously contemplating getting a Honda Passport before I got my Integra. Glad I didn't! Now I have my Integra and my 92 Cherokee...and the Cherokee is still running like a champ with 188K miles.
I have owned a 1999 Passport since it had 27 miles on it. It now has 87,000 and it has been nothing but a headache!! Honda has been VERY good to us over the years. They are totally aware of the mistake they made with Isuzu - and have made it right for us. They gave us a free extended warranty to 100,000 miles. So - despite the inconvience, it has not cost us more money. Needless to say - once we hit 100,000 miles - its GONE!! I would not hesitate to buy a Pilot despite my Passport experience.
Do any of you Passport owners know how the heck to access the brake light panel to simply change the bulb? I swear - I can't figure it out.
