Ok lets stop all the nonsense. We all know that the ls is better to turbo charge because turbo doesnt work with vtec and the longer geared tranny lets you stay in boost longer. The ls is the best motor!

People are mentioning little facts or big myths that point to the LS being better for boosting but the cold hard fact is the GSR makes noticebly more power. Isn't that enough. It's all about the HP and the TQ :fawk:

ok, you're a moron too.

turbo doesn't work with vtec? do you have any clue what vtec is? it allows the valves to follow a cam lobe which gives them a longer lift & higher duration at high rpm. this actually is GOOD for boost. it allows more time for the cylinder to fill with air. more air = more power.

shorter gears will always give you quicker acceleration. that being said, the b16/ITR gearing is ultimately the best for acceleration. however, most people have traction problems with that gearing, cause it puts so much torque to the ground. the gsr is a good medium, & most of my turbo honda bud's use the gsr tranny.

with a head that doesnt flow as well, a lower compression ratio, weaker internals, & and a longer geared tranny...the ls is definitely not superior.

& yes tuning is DEFINITELY the key. you can run 8 psi all day on a gsr if its properly tuned

yes, i am the man

no but seriously i have an ls and there is no reason that i see that my motor is better to be turbo'ed over a GSR. GSR has more power stock and better air flow as mentioned earlier.

All you gsr fans may hate me after I say this but I'm not putting down the b18c It is a great motor. I have a 97 ls w/ a gsr head. I have raced many gsrs(4) and I have one evrytime. I dynoed it at 179.6 at the wheels with i/e/h/pullys/cam grs. The reason I like it more than a gsr motor is b/c w/ the gsr head it drops the compression to a boost friendly level and it also has a lot more torque.Torque on a 4 is always good. The ls/vtec conv is awesome if done properly.

Wow....this thread is still going. Its funny how no one that can actually back their statements up with evidence has voted against the tbo GSR. Hmmm, I'm looking at GSR's as we speak. I found one for 4,500. It's a 95, has 86k, and of course has a manual trans. Think its too good to be true? Heres the link.

Let me know what you think.
