195/50/15 as opposed to 205/50/15?

Azenis: Seems to be a bit of mythology going here.
They're hardly R-compounds and not designed for track use only.
They're summer performance tyres. There are many of us who will use them through the winters, but you will notice that as the temperatures decrease, so does the Azenis gripping ability decrease.
Azenis in the water: Out of the box, you'll probably think they're fine and wonder what the fuss was all about. However, as the tread wears, you will have more trouble with standing water and heavy downpours because the tread wears down quickly, and it's blocky to start with.
These are definitely not all season tyres; however, the performance for the dollar is so good that almost all of us would love to have them on a daily driven ITR.
Provided you recognise that it's a summer performance tyre use it for that, it's the only tyre you'll need on your ITR until you're ready for R-compounds.
205-50-15 Azenis are pretty wide. Closer to other manufacturer's 215 or even 225. The 215-45-16 size is perfect on a stock ITR with 16" wheels.

Azeni's suck in the wet stuff and suck even more in the cold weather. I run them on two different cars and love them, when the conditions are right. My neighbors probably hate them as I don't feel guilty doing donuts in front of my house as they are so damn cheap.
I ran the S03's on my ITR in the 195/50 size as they were around 72 per tire. They are a FANTASTIC tire. Great dry traction (I would buy them over the crappy RE010's any day), absolutely the BEST tire I have run in the rain. On cold rainy track days I was able to pass every car out there -- including 911C4's. I once tried swapping to a set of full tread AO32R's instead and could not get enough heat into them.
Oh how I love rainy track days. Rain, the great equalizer for horsepower.

I was over at H-T and I saw that a lot of the Type-R guys ended up running a 195/50/15. I was confused, because I've never heard of anyone doing that.
Wouldn't that throw the speedo off even more? The stock tire is 107.25 mm tall, the 205/50 is 102.5, and the 195/50 is 97.5
The reasoning I got was because they are cheaper than the others, but are there any drawbacks? I just realized that a Potenza S-03 is $114 in 205/50 but $79 in 195/50.
Good thing taxes are coming!

Right, but you're forgetting the math.
205mm * 50% = 102.50mm
195mm * 55% = 107.25mm
A 205/50/15 wheel diameter would be 9.5mm smaller, therefore reducing gearing slightly and throwing off the speedometer.

Just so you know man, ActiveAero I believe on HT may be holding a GB on 205/50 S03's at a killer price...may want to hold out and find out whats going on there. Just do a search in the ITR forum, you should find it.
Yea, then I run into the problems of having them mounted and all that. My final numbers look like:
Tirerack after shipping: $489 + $60 for mounting/rotation = $549 driving away without: Free flat repair, free rotation, free snow changeover
My local Town Fair Tire said as close as they could come to my total price was $567, which I will gladly pay. What's $18 when a tire rotation would cost me more than that?
