dont ITRs need thicker tires than just 205s? i would think that with the power some of em put out 215s or even 225s would be needed to get decent launches goin

You're confused, friend. "205" refers to the tires width in mm. You must be thinking of the aspect ratio which gives you the sidewall height. In the case of a 205/50/15 tires, the "50" is the aspect ratio and an indicator of how "thick" the tire is.
You can't fit any higher than a 215 tire safely on a 15x6" ITR rim and even then, you get ballooning that will actually reduce your tire's contact patch. A 205 width is recommended. I'll be putting some 205/50/15 Falken Azenis on my ITR as soon as my 2nd set of rims come in (UKDM Type R rims)
