yea... I got ya... but perhaps you should fully invest in some"insurance" for your motor before you stick the turbo on... make it a little bit safer to run your set up on and give yourself a little room to push it...

totally understand, but why not wait till you had the funds to go with a forged bottom end?

it would have been 10x reliable.

yeah i understand the engine would be 10x more reliable...but i honestly dont see the harm running 8 to 10 psi on stock internals...now if i was talking about higher psi then i understand...but after the turbo is put on then i will build the bottam end...like i said im not just going to throw the turbo on and call it a day...

Stop listening to people saying shit like "it helps you stay in boost longer". You don't want to stay in boost...you want to get through the powerband as quickly as possible. A shorter geared tranny will always accelerate faster than a longer geared tranny whether you are boosted or N/A.

And about gas mileage...throttle position has more of an affect than rpm does on your mileage. I just drove from California to Colorado at 80 mph (4000 rpm with a GSR tranny) the whole way and averaged 29.5 mpg. The higher rpms does not affect gas mileage. The retards that say that shit are the same that say the LS tranny is better for boost.

so let me ask u a question then at 80 mph and ur at 4000 rpm that mean ur just cruising in boost right...i understand that i want to get through my powerband as fast as possible...now a lightened flywheel will help me do that...right? U make the LS tranny out to be this long and pointless tranny for a turbo when really the gear ratios arnt all that much longer...but they are longer..maybe i was fed wrong information about the two trannies....but i have both and ill see which one i like better...i just heard one thing about the gsr and one thing about the ls tranny...both have strengths and weaknesses

Yeah u do speak ur mind bro...that was a hard argument to come back on....hehe

thats why you swap the final drive ratios from the 2 leaving the gsr with that of the ls...that way you get up to speed quicker but are not as limited in the top end... A lightened fly will not help acceleration nearly the amount of the shorter gears...

thanks for help and by the way i have ARP rod bolts and head studs, type R pistons and one of the best CROME tunners in the country. He told me with what i have plus type R intake and cams or comparable aftermarket i could easily see 200 horses at the wheels when he tunes it then somewhere around 250 to 275 with my nitrous.

No, I am not cruising in boost. Depending on the throttle position, I will be anywhere from 15 mm/hg to 10 mm/hg in vacuum.

Yes, a lighter flywheel will help you accelerate a little faster and have quicker throttle response, but you will still be limited by the tranny. The LS tranny is decent in 1st and 2nd, but everything after that is rediculously long. Getting through 3rd gear will feel like an eternity.

You can try both, but the GSR tranny will always accelerate faster. Putting in the LS 5th gear is the biggest waste of money, IMO. You won't save enough in gas to justify the cost and labor involved in doing such a project.
