No, I am not cruising in boost. Depending on the throttle position, I will be anywhere from 15 mm/hg to 10 mm/hg in vacuum.
Yes, a lighter flywheel will help you accelerate a little faster and have quicker throttle response, but you will still be limited by the tranny. The LS tranny is decent in 1st and 2nd, but everything after that is rediculously long. Getting through 3rd gear will feel like an eternity.
You can try both, but the GSR tranny will always accelerate faster. Putting in the LS 5th gear is the biggest waste of money, IMO. You won't save enough in gas to justify the cost and labor involved in doing such a project.

when i cruise at 80, i get 29.5 out of my LS, all stock. Schmoo is right. the goal is to get through the revs as quick as possible, and then have another gear to do it again.
that's why 6 speeds are better. you can have the same top gear, but all the other gears in between are shorter, giving better acceleration.

how about this....ill try both and see which one I like better...aiight u might think thats a waste of time...but watever i love workin on my car...ya no...ill write back when everythings all said and done...which should be soon..ur right schmoo does no his shit...I might even look into wat sherwood suggested...

lol, just thought i'd ask. i sold my GSR after i wrecked it, complete, for $2000. the dude took the motor and tossed the rest. if i had known he was gonna do that i would have kept the ecu, the suspension, the kyb struts, the tranny, the ABS pump, etc etc. fuckin' asshole.
