How much power can I/H/E generate on the LS B18B1?
most people i know start out with some minor bolt ons...since when ure a noobie to the sports...thats all u know...
then later on move onto bigger things...supercharging or turbocharging...
i find this debate rather pointless...
ull have to start out from somewhere...
not all noobies will know about boosting...and not everyone can spend 3k at once for a turbokit...
plus...u have to know ur shish aniway...
imho...plan well ahead...dont rush into buying things too fast...

I am tired of hearing i/h/e only adds 5 whp, that is just people regurgitating what they hear so as not to sound like ricers who think they add 50 horsepower. Fact of the matter is, i/h/e adds a lot more than 5 whp. I dyno at 150 whp, and have i/h/e/cat/no ps belt/crower 403 cams. Stock is about 115 whp. So if i/h/e is only 5 whp, then the cams added 30 whp? PUH-LEASE! i/h/e added at least 10-15 whp and prepped the engine for the cams. I'd say on a b18b with i/h/e, you'd be putting out around 135-140 whp.

I have another idea...if you're gonna suggest a turbo again, take it and shove it. How many times do I have to say he is not interested?
Bumnah, suspension mods ARE the most important...I've steered him towards that heavily. He's one of my best friends and his parents have some moolah but are really weird and he doesn't have a computer or premium cable. He has Bridgestone Potenza S-03's on some nice 16" rims with a small drop (I think 1.5") and stiffer shocks. But his car is pitifully slow, and he'd like to preserve his engine. The last thing he wants is to buy a "custom turbo" and have it **** everything up.
ALL I WAS WONDERING was if I/H/E was worth it (1000 bucks or so for quality stuff) and IF NOT, what SIMPLE mods would be worth it, such as flywheel, clutch, cams, etc etc?
Thank you for your imput Weston, I appreciate it. Have you driven a GS-R lately? if so, is there a noticeable power increase in it, like where the VTEC kicks in? I know the B18B doesn't have VTEC and I guess I'm trying to ask if you really notice NOT having VTEC and wish you had it. I know I love mine.

Well, if he plans on doing any internal work, he's going to need to do I/H/C/E anyway. The engine needs to be able to breathe better to make real power with cams or whatever else he wants to do.

I do agree that suspension modifications are far more worthwhile for the $$$. But if you want trouble-free bolt-on mods good for a few whp, I/H/E is FAR from a waste of money.

I do agree that suspension modifications are far more worthwhile for the $$$. But if you want trouble-free bolt-on mods good for a few whp, I/H/E is FAR from a waste of money.
