A decent custom turbo setup will cost you WELL over $1000

actually bret in teh civic forum made a turbo setup for less than $1000. He's put about $800 into it, and is runing 14.0 flat. Best $800 i've seen spent on a car.

Turbo's can had rather cheaply. My friend got piping made from the turbo to intercooler, and from intercooler to intake manifold, with a place for the BOV, and he got a 3" down pipe to the cat, and apipe for the external waste gate which runs into the downpipe just before the cat. $330 for labor and piping.

Get a nice turbo manifold your bov and external waste gate, and fuel setup and fuel pump and so forth and so on. If you shop around you can get it going for $1500, minus the electornics, or if you want a pick up a hondata stage 2b for a few hundred and it'll keep you in good spirits for a bit.

You can have a turbo setup for $2000 or less. He'll bret did it for $800.

My friend chad (TriDawg) has an LS that dynod at 134 / 125.1 or something VERY close to that.

He's got a 2000 LS w/ AEM CAI & bypass, DC 4-2-1 & bosal prosport exhaust.

I've ridden in & driven his car, and compared to my LS w/ just CAI, it's a decent difference.

Haters are :ghey:

Well I guess I don't do things half assed, if I'm gonna do a turbo setup it's gonna make some power, and I'm gonna buy good components so I know there isn't a weak link in the system.

Right on Dubster...Im sure it can be done.

But what about the clutch that barely grabs anymore? The flywheel to go along with that? Or the intercooler you find necessary when you want to boost a decent amount? Or the time on the dyno to tune this setup? What if you have OBD2? Add another ECU/harness onto that $450 Hondata 2B setup. Boost or EGT guages?

Never mind the initial cost for the turbo, wastegate, fmu, pump, manifold, piping, connectors/brackets....its not a breeze.

And thats hoping you start it up without any problems.

I/H/E you will notice a difference for sure. To get the most out f it you need to get all three because the compliment each other. They basically help your motor breathe.

what i meant was, with 1k you have a damn good setup to keep building onto. the only reason my turbo setup is going to cost me a lot is because i'm using really nice / new parts. so far i have spent $685 on a t3, max rev manifold, and cut in half downpipe

even if i can't install them, i think that spending $700 on a turbo, manifold and downpipe was definately better than spending the same amount on intake header and exhaust.

Chad actually went to a dyno and got those numbers. I was just saying that compared to my car, it does in fact feel faster.
