what do u think about my brake setup. I have Powerstop Sloted rotors all around Axxis Metal master pads all around Goodridge Stainless steel lines all around and regular Brake fluid. The rotors and pads where on the car when i bought it. So please give me some suggestions, i would like to do some autocrossing and track runs and i will be driving on the strip. I know the pads are crap. Thanks for the help.

Heh, "metal masher." :chuckles:

Hawk HP+ is a good pad as long as you don't mind them dusting a bunch and squeaking every once in a while.

Each DOT rating sort of supercedes the lower one. It's not quite like that but that's a reasonably accurate description.

Helms says use either DOT3 or DOT4. There's only one kind of Valvoline Synpower brake fluid, and it's for use as either a DOT3 or a DOT4 fluid. So, you got no worries.

check on ebay, thats where i got mine.

im running:
Rotors:Autozone Blanks ($~20 a piece)
Pads: Axxis Metal Masters (front) / OE (Rear)
Fluid/Lines: Some shitty fluid and OE lines. i should probably drain and replace my fluid, but im lazy.

i just installed the metal masters like a month ago, they were a pretty big improvement over stock, and i like them alot. however, they produce alot more brake dust so, thats not that good. its something im willing to live with though.

ok. i got the brembo oem replacements in, along with the PBR Ultimates. i took it to a shop to get them installed (please forgive me)...and the guy went ahead and took it for a test drive. its a good quality shop and the guy knew about "bedding" the pads in.

first of all feedback....ive had them for no more than 80 miles, mostly highway. but i did some spirited braking a few mins ago. and man, going from warped rotors with cheaper pads to new rotors and "better" pads....what a difference. but i guess that would be a given.

ok, question. im really loving the setup, and really dont want the rotors to warp on me again. what kind of precautions should i take with using the brakes? i didnt get to do any threshold braking to bed them in, would it be possible if i did the whole "bedding" routine again tomorrow?

I got w/ my f/r teg swap:

Brembo slotted rotors (cause they look cool h: )
Axxis Ultimate pads
OEM Fluid
Generic braided steel lines.

The pads are good, but not great. They are smooth and quiet (great drivability... might as well be factory) they clamp pretty hard, but dont' bite quite as hard as I'd like. Next time around I'll try Hawk HP+.

As for fluid, I've managed to cook my brakes a few times storming down my favorite mountain roads (and this is in my 2100 lb VX). I haven't gotten around to it yet, but OEM fluid just doesn't cut it for performance driving (it works OK for autocrosses just because you only use it for -60 sec at a time). Some quality DOT 4 or 5 fluid is a must if you ask a lot of your brakes.

I am looking for some front rotors for my GS-R. I found "Front - Brembo OE Brake Rotor" on importrp.com. Are these the Brembo blanks that some of you are talking about? Also they are 29.99 a piece. Some of you mentioned that you got 'em for ~20 a piece. Where did you get that price? Is this a decent price (on importrp.com)?

Yes that is the right rotor. Those are $30 a peice since they are BREMBO's. The ones that people got for $20 a peice were normal oe replacements from autozone. It seems like a lot of people think that the autozone's are just as good as the brembo's when it comes to blanks.

Also, does anyone know what brand rotors and pads come standard with GS-R?
