Each DOT rating sort of supercedes the lower one. It's not quite like that but that's a reasonably accurate description.

Helms says use either DOT3 or DOT4. There's only one kind of Valvoline Synpower brake fluid, and it's for use as either a DOT3 or a DOT4 fluid. So, you got no worries.
