5spd's are much easier to maintain, plus better gas mileage, more fun, plus for being a female and drives a stick, she deserves some respect for that. Besides, its a Honda, and a new one at that, with a warrenty. Nothings going to break for a long time.

Drive a 2000 V6 Accord Coupe with an automatic. Once you've replaced 3 trannies in it, your next car (and probably the cars after that, for a very long time) will be 5 speeds. And probably not even Hondas.

The ONLY maintainence item in a 5 speed drivetrain are the clutch components, provided that the synchros aren't abused from harsh shifting.

You technically don't even "need" to change tranny fluid in a manual since it's considered a sealed unit, but Honda recommends something like a year between changes just to make sure no moisture is trapped in the tranny and kept there...

Manual transmissions also usually get better gas mileage.

Tell her dad that with a manual her right hand will be too busy shifting so she cant rub on her boyfriends leg.

Also, when things get old and broken down the road I'd rather pay for a new clutch and flywheel rather than an auto tranny repair.

Oh yeah, her hand will be too busy shifting to be holding a phone with her right hand.

Her hand will be too busy shifting so she cant hold the mirror and check how she looks.

Her hand will be too busy shifting so she cant play with the radio controls.

Also, ask her dad if he's convinced yet after reading my post.

well just from what i know about cars, i would have to say mt is better. there all the moveing parts simpler, i have heard that mt is easyer on the break, due to the releace of preshure when the clutch is applied, and well i just like banging gears ( it makes me feel in control ). i have been into michinacs for 5 years now and, i have a fairly good graspe of how a mt. works. i have next to no clue how a at. works

In your deep study of mechanics, you seem to have neglected your other studies...including spelling...

But yeah, I would vote for the manual every single time. Better reliability as far as Honda transmissions go, better mileage, less parts, more concentration on the actual driving, more fun.

Worst case scennario: total transmission failure. The manual is STILL cheaper to replace than the auto. I don't know what her dad is thinking.

Hey now dont totally rip down Honda automatics...sure they had some problems for a couple years. But I'm sure the new ones will last a long time. I say it should be up to her, me personally, for a daily driver would rather have an auto...stick is fun...but not for everyday driving...

stick will have lots more power.. auto trannies in honda's and acrua's loose way more power than 5 spd. and 5 spds will give her something to do, i know when i'm in an auto car i'm bored as hell, no clutch, no shifter to move, nothing... i think if i had an auto i would get in more crashes because i'll be messing around with something else rather than shifting
