Tranny swap

wow there is ALOT of incorrect information being given out here....first off, NO the DX and SI transmissions are NOT the same. not even close. The DX tranny is more for MPG and the SI tranny is for better acceleration. The 88 transmissions have a 20 spline count, therefore, you must buy a clutch for an 88. the 89-91's have a 21 spline count, so, a clutch for a 89-91 must be used. resurfacing your flywheel wouldn't be the problem getting it into gear. maybe the clutch disc was installed backwards? i would double check the clutch cable to make sure its connected correctly....
On the clutch disk it says this side flywheel and it was put on correctly, The cable IS on right and has been adjusted many times. My car is an 89 DX, the tranny I "WANTED" to use is a 91 Si. I was told to get a clutch kit for the 91 and I would be straight, this is NOT TRUE. The clutch dick and pressure plate are larger for the Si (1.6L engine) Now I was going to get a lightweight flywheel now. It says it fits the 1.5/1.6. Then why are the stock flywheels have different part numbers?
This is what it breaks down too. Can I bolt up my 91 Si tranny to my DX engine? If so I think I would have to use a clutch kit and fly wheel for my 89 DX engine.

here and read about it. This is the same site that I pulled the info on spline counts off of and posted previously. Also, if you scroll up, I already told him to just use an '89 clutch and bolt up the Si tranny. Thanks for trying to help though. I don't know what is up with this hold the clutch partway down and it shifts deal, sounds like something is binding up. Got any ideas on that?
