wow there is ALOT of incorrect information being given out here....first off, NO the DX and SI transmissions are NOT the same. not even close. The DX tranny is more for MPG and the SI tranny is for better acceleration. The 88 transmissions have a 20 spline count, therefore, you must buy a clutch for an 88. the 89-91's have a 21 spline count, so, a clutch for a 89-91 must be used. resurfacing your flywheel wouldn't be the problem getting it into gear. maybe the clutch disc was installed backwards? i would double check the clutch cable to make sure its connected correctly....
