I've owned a 12 L7 and the difference in sound, deepness, and thump is nothing compared to a 15. I'm missing what my 15 did for me....

I'd rather do 1 15 over 2 12's anyday!!!!

But before we get too carried away, how's it sound with your rear seat back folded down now (with the xlc's)???

Okay Si, let me put it to you another way....

IF I got new, better subs in a ported enclosure for the trunk of my 99 Accord, WOULD the rumble and boom be much improved over the tight rolloff I am experiencing now with my SEALED 15s? Like I had mentioned in my original post, a co worker of mine with two 10s in a sealed box in his Acura TL Type S suggested that if I got two 15s in a PORTED box instead of my sealed set up, the rolloff and boom difference would be night and day...and if I went bandpass, he says, I would be able to be heard in the next county, forget about in the next car over....do you agree?

REALLY? Kicker 12s really sound and hit THAT MUCH different from their 15s? The sound is THAT much more dissapointing? I would never believe that before you said it....their SS12 woofers in their full range SS boxes hit like CRAZY...and they were 12s...well, nonetheless, would two 12s be heard in the street, do you think? Kicker 12s, that is, in a ported enclosure, powered by the 800.2? And could the 800.2 power the 12s rather than the 15s?

I have never folded the seats down to experiment with it....

also the angle of the box could matter, i know a hatch is a lot diff. than a trunk but depending on the way i turn my box the sound magnifies, the hardest hitting so far is with them pointed straight up towards the hatch, or aimed at the back or rear of the hatch, i had 1 kicker com 12" running on a 600 watt pioneer(before it got lifted) and it didn't do much for me, now i have 2 type s akoube 12's aimed at the top and rear of hatch and it will rattle the fillings out of teeth, running on a alpine v12 600W, just a thought?

Mike,

Thanks for the thought; my sealed box IS facing toward the rear of the trunk, so the bass does hit the rear and then bounce back into the passenger cabin----if this is REALLY the way it works; still, the bass doesnt make your hand stand on end even though its HELLA strong---and people dont hear it in the street, leading me to believe that its because of my sealed box...I should have gotten ported....can anyone continue to advise please?

I think if you went with the 12" subs rather than the 15" subs you may be able to achieve the results you are going after. I would also go woth a ported enclosure for your scenario over a sealed enclosure. I would go with the 12s because you'll be applying the same power to a smaller cone so you may be able to achieve more output in terms of efficiency. Then with the ported enclosure, if designed correctly, you should be a bit louder as compared to a sealed enclosure if that is your goal.

Larger subs are more efficient...

Funny you mention this, I've already suggested it to him, but he ignored me (scroll to the bottom):

Notice how he chose to ignore it.....he's be given plenty of leads to help diagnose the problem, but all we get is the same questions over and over and speculation...
