2001 Accord- V6 or I4
I'm a new user and have been reading up on the sixth generation honda accords EX models. I'm aware that there are a lot of transmission problems with the v6s, but Honda has an extended warranty for 7 yr/100,000. However the problems I've read about are particularly with the 1998s - 2000s. Does this same issue apply to the 2001 models? If so, do you think it is worth it to buy a v6, despite these problems? If I do purchase a v6, should I make sure the transmission has been replaced? Have the problems disappeared with the replaced transmissions? Alternatively, do y'all think it is just safer to go with the i4 to avoid these problems?
I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice. Thanks!

Also if your gonna be doing the racing, my Inline 4 can smoke alot of the V-6s that i race against. Its up to you though....
V6.
The tranny warranty goes for 00's and 01's only, so if you're out of that year range, you're out of luck. The tranny issue is completely over exhaggerated with only 3% of cars carrying that model being defective. That not only covers Accord, but the Odyssey, 3.2TL, and 3.2CL. Also, you will void your warranty only if the modification you make is proven to cause the defect. Adding an intake or exhaust will not cause the transmission to fail. Adding a transmission oil cooler or something along those lines will.
The V6 has noticable power when going from 40 to 80. The mid to high powerband is terrific for highway driving.
When looking at trim levels, the EX is the way to go. With the EX you get all power options along with leather, moonroof, and 16in alloy rims.
