imo, b18c5.

simple swap, lots of power, high redline, lsd, higher compression, friction coated internals, better flowing intake manifold... blah blah blah.

well thats at least what im doing. imo, its worth the extra 1500$ over the b18c1 and the hassel involved with an h22 swap. but since you want to go FI i guess the b16 or h22 would do you better.

only reason im planning on going c5 is because i want to stay na, want to auto-x, and want a red valve cover

actually C5 NOT most reliable, the b16 or 18c will be the most reliable. The c5 has a much higher compression and runs hot on turbo, easy to fix but u didnt ask that u asked best handle stock, I would say go with a b16. Hell I would say go with a b16 on any case lol. Cant beat the R/S ratio. The h22 will be the fastest car straight line but its impossible to fit a turbo under there without heavy modifying. Just with the motor alone u cant have a/c and powersteering, well u can have a/c if u want to go through the time consuming purpose of relocating it. and of course there is the oversteer on the engine that is a biatch... but yess I would say go with a b16, or maybe if u want to be different go buy some rods, pistons, rings, re-sleeve the cylinders and bore em to about 88mm and u will have a hefty little b16 on ur hands that all motor will pull pretty hard for a n/a without cams n wat not... good luck man

If i were to be h22 turbo, i would be a whole lot faster than either one. if i were to turbo an LSVtec, im not sure were id be, but im guessing still slower than the h22 turbo, not sure though.
lol im just on a role today, lol. yes a turboed out h22 is hell on wheels, those are the easiest to tune to run the nhra circuit. lol an ls/vtec doesnt gain that much power, we did the conversion about a month ago and it pulls hard but i prefer a straight up gsr, he has a 94 dx coupe and he cant touch a 96 bh w gsr, both have i/h/e and and its a good race till 3rd.. enjoy...

how hard is it to read? my cousin has a 96 hb with a gsr i/h/e, a friend has a 94 coupe dx with an LS/vtec w/i/h/e, when they race its a good race till 3rd. the h22 is hell on wheels fast with a turbo, **** without a turbo that thing halls azz, I prefer a straight up gsr over a ls/vtec thats what I said.. Yes it is coming from the guy with a turbo strapped to a DC header, y dont u do urself a favor, u got to whatever mechanic u know of that is qualified for a turbo setup and ask him if he can custom weld a turbo flange to a DC header, whatever he says thats what we'll go. now if u chooose to lye and say he says its not possible why dont u go to this link, lol this is with an 88-91 crx hf manifold, and a 92-95 cx manifold, please stop talkin ****... here is the link..
