The way you descibe the pedal feel, I would definitely check the fluid first and the clutch master cylinder second. The cmc is on the firewall where the fill reservoir is and is what your clutch pedal attaches to.

It's hard to troubleshoot the noise you described because everyone describes their noises differently but.....

My Clutch master cylinder is going bad due to it being old and the fact that I have an ACT heavy duty pressure plate which helped to make it go bad sooner than it would have... anyhow, occassionlay it makes like a groaning squeek when I push the clutch in. I know it's going bad because of the sound it's making as well as there is an oily residue around the rubber piece where the plunger acuator comes out and attaches to the clutch pedal.

Again I would advise checking your fluid, check for leaks at the master or slave cylinder and also check the master cylinders plunger rod area on the inside of your car where the pedal is before buying a new pressure plate.

perhaps if my friends knew how to drive my car i wouldn't need 5. The 1st one was broken by a friend that drives a 87 CJ7 jeep that you have to muscle shift into gear. He slammed it into 2nd and killed something inside. The second one had had a defective 1st and 2nd gear synchro. The third one my friend with a cable tranny old school LS crx did the same as the 1st guy and killed 1st and 2nd gear shifting it too hard. And actually i'm on my 4th not my 5th, i miscounted.

And why don't you march into honda and go buy a new D series tranny from them, i'll laugh when they bend you over without KY and ask you for 4 grand.....dumbass. Besides i didn't pay over 150 bucks for any of them and the labor was free.

If his 2 friends broke the transmissions by muscling them, do you really think a brand spanking new tranny from Honda is going to be *that* much stronger? They're all made of the same stuff. Also, since they are all Honda parts, it's a bit hard to state that he bought crappy parts. So, no, it's not like someone asking why their crappy APC tails leak and the stock ones don't. It's more like a guy who's had bad luck with trannies.

Not to get in the middle of you two's little tussle but I'm confused.

It's not like he's buying some aftermarket kmart special tranny... it's oem shit just used, so how can he buy anything better than oem?

How many of us have completely tore down a motor or tranny to see what shape its in before we buy it?... I'd guess probably none of us, especially with a tranny that's under $150. Now with a motor, you might do some investigating if you have the chance... like remove the oil pan and valve cover but not much you can do when buying a used tranny except pay and pray.

Now maybe he's gone through 4 because of a combo of bad luck and poor driving though:naughty:

Oh, BTW... I've re-read the entire thread and been doing some thinking and this is what I've come up with...

I think we have two issues here....

First, I think the noise is entirely unrelated to the loose-as-a-goose pedal. The noise after thinking about it, sounds like it could definitely be your throw out bearing. I've heard of guys with bad ones or guys that replace their clutch but neglect to replace the bearing and they've described the same sound.

Now the pedal like I said, I believe is unrelated to the noise and probably just coincidental. I would check the things I previously posted....

Then again I could be entirely wrong, I've never had a bad pressure plate or throw out bearing... just my .02:thumbup:

I was only driving the car once when a tranny crapped out. And it was a 1st to 2nd shift at about 3500 rpms just driving home at night, it just kind of locked up between gears and stuck there.

You can't argue for 80 bucks (the 2nd tranny i bought) and i wasn't about to take the time to take it apart to check synchros cause the whole point of buying a 80 dollar tranny is the fact that if it breaks who cares? Tailights leaking have nothing to do with mechanical moving parts that can wear out. APC is just sh*t quality.

Does any one want some gum?

I'm thirsty. It's raining and my taillights leak...maybe I can crawl in my trunk and lick the drip that creates the puddle, that makes the hole, that drains the water that leaked in the first place.
