Flashy graphics but once you get past that it is pretty boring overall.
GT3 was boring as hell because there was no damage engine at all. Not saying it has to be real time damage but some would be a plus. No swap or real modifications can be made to the cars.
The GT engine is getting old and dated. I am sure I will play it but I doubt I will buy it because it just doesn't hold my interest for very long.

I'm ALL OVER this game! Been a GT fan since the first one, and they have no equal in console driving sims...
Oh, and don't come whining about, "but, but...there's no car damage!" or some such weak crap. The reason there's no visible damage is the reason the game rocks...with all those auto manufacturers, some are picky about showing damage to their cars and I'm sure everyone can agree that it would be stupid to show damage on some cars but not on others...

So when I watch the touring class races and see their cars crash and sustain damage then they edit the feed to show a perfect condition car and it still handles like it had never spun out?
Get real man manufacturers realize damage happens in racing situations and they aren't as picky as you may think about showing it. Characteristics of the car change every time they rub, tap a wall, spin out on the grass, clip a corner short, etc.
This is just a fact and hiding it only makes the game more fake and takes away a portion of the challenge.

GRAN TURISMO IS A GAME, GENIUS! THAT AUTOMATICALLY MAKES IT FAKE!!
I suppose you could make a better console driving sim with your excellent programming skills, huh? Or maybe your computer knowledge ends with changing HAN users posts to read like one of your gay wet dreams?
Another point you've obviously missed about GT is that not all the cars in the game are race cars. There are MANY regular vehicles. So while "manufacturers realize damage happens in racing situations" and might not be adverse to showing such, many of them do NOT like the products they sell to the general public to show damage in a video game. Don't believe me? Ask anyone less ignorant than yourself if this isn't the truth as to why GT has never featured visible car damage...

I never claimed I could do the programming now did I? but I merely was pointing out what it would take to make the game fun and what a lot of people have actually complained about with the GT series both to Sony as well as on many gaming forums.
Just because they are available to the general public does not make it any less suceptible to damage in racing situations and if you had the half brain you claim you would also realize that every car featured has and will be raced since under the SCCA rules guidelines each of these cars have a classification level.
 grow up fanboy

I wasn't saying that I agreed with the no-damage policy in the GT series, just trying to point out to someone pretty dense WHY the game is the way it is. But as expected, he never seemed to get the point, so I'm finished trying to explain it to him...
However, I was under the impression that since the Midnight Club games don't use "real" car makes, they could show all the damage they like. Is this not the case?

People want realism from a game...not so realistic it is not fun but some realism is good. Damage doesn't have to be visual as well it can be as simple as hitting a wall and the car pulls to the side that hit or rubbed.
Not that difficult really.
